Introduction
In the current generation, almost all the industrial and manufacturing processes have changed are today, using the slogan of maximizing output and minimizing the expenses. This puts most of the people at the risks of contacting pressure ulcers, also referred to as bedsores, because poor nutrition leads to fatigue in the body, and thus the damage of some of the tissues. The primary significance of this problem is to help in creating awareness for the people missing the information on the necessary, appropriate measures of preventing pressure ulcers. Moreover, this particular topic was chosen because studies have previously revealed that, despite pressure ulcers being considered in many hospitals as a minor illness, many patients do not understand the causes and keep on engaging in activities that result in the bedsores problem.
Picot Question Analysis of the Problem
This study is done to respond to a question, what are the causes of pressure ulcers? Are there preventive measures that can be taken? Are these measures accessible, affordable, and available for everyone in the societies?
This question is of interest to a given set of individuals who are either prone to contact pressure ulcers or those that are already leaving with the disease. A bedsore is a widespread deficiency that results when one suffers from prolonged pressure in one or more parts of the body (Grey et al., 2006). As a result, older adults are also targeted because, in most cases, they get affected by pressure, due to regular instances of depression and prolonged stress (Allman, 1989).
Besides, the friction of the skin with rough objects can also be a cause of bedsore. When the skin is wet, it is so dangerous too have disagreements with either coarse or sharp objects. This is because, upon the contact, the skin can probably sustain several injuries and even risks the person on being subjected to other minor injuries in the future. In summary, some of the significant threatening risk factors include immobility of personal, adverse effects with the blood flow system, unavailability of proper nutrition, and finally, lack of the perception for the sensory organs (Torrance, 1983).
When doing the integration for pressure ulcers, the risk factors makes it possible to identify that indeed, people from lower socioeconomic status, those with disabilities or the old and other weaker population who may have difficulties in making movements are among the people of interest in this particular nursing research (Andrychuk, 1998). As one of the workers in the nursing and long-term health care unit, it is essential to take this perception into account when intervening to help the future generation free themselves from some of the preventable diseases like bedsores. The illness is also closely tied to other severe infections like depression, cancer, and cellulitis, infections in the bone and joints, and even sepsis.
To prevent this infection, people should consider repositioning themselves frequently whenever they stand or sit for longer hours to reduce the chances of creating stress on the skin making a healthy nutrition with considerable amount of fluid intake to avoid fatigue, making consistent mitigations to keep the skin safe, seizing from smoking, which can eventually lead to depressions in future and also taking proper steps on stress management whenever things are not in place (Reddy et al., 2006). In conclusion, Pressure Ulcer is an infection that can be prevented, but only if the patients and other healthy individuals decide to take the measures stated above.
