The first step in conducting a need assessment for hypertension management among African Americans would be to find data from a reliable source (Springer et al., 2016). Interview data collection method would be used to complete the study of Hypertension management among African Americans who would be the target group. The research would be based at St. Mary hospital New York. The patients who would be coming for scheduled treatment would participated in the interview to determine if they have hypertension in their medical history. A total of 50 patients would be targeted to completed the interview. The total number of African Americans with hypertension would be used to indicate a higher rate of hypertension among African Americans. The data would be collected using the interviewing method in a hospital because it would be more effective since the patient would present their results from the medical history, which the interviews would be checking to ensure the data obtained is accurate. The method would be effective since the patients will be willing to participate in the hospital interview because they would expect some help on how to manage the disease (Springer et al., 2016). In the collection of data, using the interview methods would challenge the research's final results. The major challenge would be the unwillingness of the patient to participate in the interview. The patients in the hospital would be dedicating their time to the doctors and not to the interviewers. The other challenge would be the incorrect data given by some patients. The interviews would be collecting data on how the patients developed hypertension, and many patients would not disclose the course of the diseases. The information about the lifestyle of the patients would not be clear since the patients did not inform. Lastly, the patients did not provide the information concerning the management of the disease, and hence the best disease management was not identified.
