Institute for Healthcare Improvement is a non-profit oriented independent company which is based in Boston. It is a driver for better results in health as well as wealth care improvements across the world. Its core objective is to ensure that everyone gets the best health and health cares as possible (Nolan, Resar, Griffin & Gordon, 2004).

It has various roles. These roles include; the patient safety. It makes care safer by reducing harm and taking preventive control. It enhances improvement capability. This involves the use of science to facilitate its work thus making it able to reach and have a positive impact on the community improvement. It has the role of improving person and family-centered care . This involves taking into account all persons need in every decision they make. Another role is the triple aim for a population. It consists of the use of integrated approaches to improve healthcare and reduce the per capita cost. Another purpose is the quality, cost, and value. It includes providing affordable and improvements in quality. It undertakes various activities to achieve their mission (Nolan, Resar, Griffin & Gordon, 2004). These activities include; creating an opportunity for the healthcare professionals to learn and providing knowledge to students to acquire knowledge of improving health care.

On the other hand, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality is a federal agency which is entitled to improving the safety and quality of health care system in America (Indicators, 2002). They develop tools, knowledge, and data required to help patients, healthcare professionals as well as the policymakers come up with the best-informed health decisions.

It has the following roles supporting improvements outcomes by giving the researchers support who address critical public concerns. It has the part in developing strategies that strengthen quality improvements and performance. Lastly its role in improving the health care access and reducing the unnecessary expenditures. It undertakes the following activities. This includes; Assisting customers and patients to get objective information when choosing health plans, hospitals or doctors based on their performance (Indicators, 2002). Secondly, it helps physicians and other care providers to reduce an unnecessary cost for hospitalizing inappropriate patients. They also have the role of informing the policymakers together with other officials about the various ways of improving children health care served by the agencies of the state and how to come up with multiple forms of reducing the health disparities (Indicators, 2002).

AHRQ still explores on how to expand its effectiveness in improving the patient safety as well as a reduction in cost. It tries to improve safety mostly focusing on the patients that are most vulnerable and sickest. Non-hospital settings such as physician officers are being provided to less venerable patients. The rural physicians are being trained and supported hence improving the health care performance to the patients receiving it. According to the affordable care act, there is an aim of developing high-performance health care for the improved provision of quality and security (Rak & Janis, 2013). This involves providing the right care to the right patient at the right time using the right resources as well as reducing errors.

The law has also come up with measures of ensuring patient safety in the hospitals (Rak & Janis, 2013). This helps to save many lives. A health system is being formed by evidence mainly by the AHRQ. More scientists, researchers, and other stakeholders are working to fulfill the high quality, safer health care system vision that will serve everyone efficiently.

Nevertheless, there are some unintended consequences of healthcare reforms. To start with, we have the government policy kept in place to safeguard the healthcare safety and quality may fail to be implemented (Sharkey, 2005). Lack of good laws may lead to the unexpectedly poor performance of these acts. In other the user may have negative emotions- Example: physician becomes unsatisfied with this hard-to-use software. Generating new kind of error- the busy physician may enter data in a different section rather than the collect location this can cause confusion and medical error Overdependence on technology- example, a physician who is reliant on clinical decision support get trouble in remembering dosage standard, recommendation and medical flaw when the system is down.

The advanced practice nurses bridge to the quality of healthcare. It called for rapid and dramatic improved restructuring of education of the health professionals. It focused on problems concerning patient safety (Melnyk et al., 2014). It was recommended that in order to deliver the best health care to patients, all professionals in the healthcare to be educated. It emphasized improvements in quality, informatics, and evidence-based practices. The most experienced and prepared senior level nurses are involved in decision making as well as in leadership positions.

The leadership capacity and clinical education of the advanced practice nurses should be increased. Nurses are required to employ advanced communication skills since they are equipped with these skills to enhance quality improvements in healthcare systems as well as the safety of patients (Melnyk et al., 2014).

In conclusion, Agency for Health Care Research and Quality and Institute for Healthcare Improvements has brought about so many changes and improvements in the health sector. They help all the stakeholders in the health sector may it be the patient, health professions, and other interested parties to realize cheap and easy ways of accessing or handling health care. It also ensures that the health care cost is reduced and affordable. The professionals also acquire skills in treating patients making their work more accessible and improving the quality of health care they offer. They are also able to make right decisions hence minimize unnecessary cost.
