Introduction
The post-surgery issues are identified to be a problem by determining whether nurse practitioners' roles are followed, and patents satisfaction has been met in post-surgery units. A nurse practitioner has a significant role in applying nursing leadership towards the patients who have been through surgical processes. This role facilitates the identification of post-surgery problems that do exist. The nursing practitioners have a critical role to follow up on the life of their patients after treatment to know whether their life has improved or has worsened (Burch 2012). If the life of the patient has deteriorated, then it is therefore recognized as an issue that requires nursing practitioners' care and concern. Thus, the skills of the nurse practitioners working in post-surgery units are identified to be a problem if they are not able to meet the patients' satisfaction. The nurse practitioners should contain significant expert skills and complex decision making knowledge to be able to make sure that their patients have a quality life. The workload experienced by nurse practitioners is a piece of evidence that there is a presence of the issue in the process of solving emergency cases and providing quality training to nurses in the Intensive Care Unit (Meissner, Coluzzi, Fletcher, Huygen, Morlion, Neugebauer and Pergolizzi, 2015).. If the nurses are not able to be independent in a way that they can manage patient issues without direct supervision from the doctors, then it symbolizes a problem as per their skills are concerned. According to Lowe, Plummer, O'Briena, and Boyd (2012), nurse practitioners should contain the necessary skills to effectively work in the absence of doctors and meet the patients' satisfaction. Notably, when nurse practitioners are not able to work independently, it is identified as a problem in nursing leadership and decision-making skills. Therefore, post-surgery recovery issues are identified to be a problem if the patients' satisfaction is not met. On the other hand, nursing practitioners' skills are detected to be an issue if they cannot work independently without supervision from doctors.
Who needs the information about the problem or issue?
The information about post-surgery issues should be known by patients, nursing practitioners, doctors, and the general public. Patients should have information regarding the problem to understand their safety in the hands of the nurse practitioners. Through having adequate knowledge of the issues, the patients will be able to know what they expect from the nurses in the post-surgery units (Ellis, 2019). Patients need to know about the issue because some may not be aware of it as an issue. It is also in line with the nursing professional codes of conduct to ensure the patient is full aware of any existing problem during care so that they can have the autonomy of making a decision with regards to their own heath. The nurse practitioners need to know about the problem to figure out how they can improve on it. The nurses should have practical nursing skills, which will enable them to work effectively without supervision from the doctors. Therefore, if they recognize the problem, it will be possible for them to develop strategies on how to improve their skills and gain leadership skills. Through knowing the issue, the nursing practitioners will be able to understand the patients' needs and the criteria to be used to meet their satisfaction. Nurses can also make use of current evidence based interventions to ensure that the noted problem is clinically handled to attain patient's wellbeing. The doctors should also have information on the lack of adequate skills among their nurses. This knowledge is crucial to the doctors because they will be able to develop strategies that will enhance the capabilities of their nurses to work independently. Through this knowledge, the doctors will guide the nurse practitioners on how to work without supervision and improve their decision-making skills. Finally, the information on the post-surgery problems should be known by the patients family or home caregivers for general understanding of the patient's condition. The knowledge will help the patients family members and the home caregivers to understand the issues faced by nurse practitioners and patients in the post-surgery units (Ellis, 2019). The family members may also assist the nurses and the patient in adopting the best interventions that shall lead to a quick recovery of tHe noted problem. Therefore patients, nurse practitioners, doctors, and the patients family members or homecare givers should know about the problems encountered in the post-surgery units.
What are the possible solutions?
Possible solutions that can be taken to solve the post-surgery recovering problems are emphasizing the patients' necessities and equipping the nurse practitioners with leadership skills. To ensure that nurses are in a position to meet the needs of the patients, they should be trained to acquire the needed skills to administer ultimate care to the patients. To ensure the high-quality life of the patients, the nurses should have adequate skills in leadership and understand their roles in the post-surgery units (Bicket, Long, Pronovost, Alexander and Wu, 2017). Nurses should undergo a rigorous clinical; training through different clinical educators or nursing professional development specialists. The specialists should train nurses on a variety of duties in the healthcare facility as well as how to handle different patients' situations. It is through training that nurses will be able to succeed in their different work units. After training, the nurses should be in a position to evaluate the demands of their patients effectively and be able to meet them. Besides equipping the nurses with leadership skills, their roles should be made clear to them so that they can carry out their nursing practices with the set objectives. On the other hand, doctors should make sure that the nurses can work without strict supervision and meet the needs of the patients. According to Burch (2012), doctors should ensure managerial skills are provided to the nurses so that they can be independent in their work. By equipping the nurses with managerial skills, they will be able to enhance quick recovery and raise the quality of life of the patients' status after surgeries. The possible solution which can be taken to solve the issue of the patients' demands in the post-surgery units is equipping those patients with the knowledge of the significant roles of nurse practitioners (Weiland, 2015). In this case, when the patients understand the roles of the nurses, they will be able to understand their rights in the post-surgery unit and demand them. By knowing their necessities, the patients are in a position to pressure the nurse practitioners to work effectively. Therefore, the possible solutions to the post-surgery recovery problems are equipping the nurses with adequate leadership skills and clarifying the necessities of the patients.
How will the dissemination of this researched information impact behavior?
The dissemination of this information about the post-surgery issues will have an impact on the survey behavior of the targeted groups. For instance, when the information is spread to the nurse practitioners, they will be able to improve on their skills to provide better services to their patients. The dissemination of this information will influence the nurses to identify the gaps which already exist and develop effective strategies or possible solutions on how to bridge the gaps. By disseminating the information, nursing practitioners may be able to establish an acute pain management strategy to offer the needed care and monitor each patient in such a way that will enhance safety to him or her. The dissemination of the post-surgery recovery issues will facilitate health facilities to offer adequate education and training o the nurses. In this case, the training and training will improve the behavior of the nurses in delivering high care. There will be increased awareness and improved skills in the post-surgery units, which will further the knowledge of postoperative care through educational programs. It will impact the nurses in consideration of the pain management core curriculum. According to Bernard and Foss (2014), raising awareness of the issues in the clinical department changes the previous behavior of the healthcare providers. It triggers them to adopt new ways that can minimize the present matters. The dissemination of the researched information will impact the behavior of the clinical department in improving the approaches of post-surgery treatments. Also, it will affect the behavior of the nurses of being dependent on the doctors and start being independent (Bicket, Long, Pronovost, Alexander and Wu, 2017). They will be able to work effectively without the supervision of the doctors and meet the needs of the patients. The dissemination will also impact the behavior of the doctors of "spoon-feeding" the nurses and create new strategies to enable the nursing practitioners to acquire leadership skills.
