Introduction
My desire and love for helping people have greatly influenced my nursing career. I became a Licensed Practical Nurse in 2004, and I have had nothing to regret since then. Over the years, I have developed more desire for compassionate care and always felt satisfied to impact patients' lives positively. Since I was a child, I had a great passion for pursuing a career in health care and was motivated more by family members in the same field. So far, I have had a fantastic experience from the 16 years in nursing and would wish to pursue greater heights in the field. I have faced several challenges in my work life and received them as lessons of growth as a more experienced nurse. I view Pursuing Certified Registered Nurse Anaesthetists (CRNA) as a step in health care career development and toward my vision of becoming a great nurse.
Luckily, I have several traits that contribute to having a smooth nursing career. With excellent communication skills, I have connected well with patients over the years. Creating an good provider-patient relationship has always been a priority. I have learned that making the patient trust you, creates open communication, where the patient can quickly tell their fears, concerns, and decisions. Out of this, I have easily detected the patients, level of health literacy, which is essential in providing excellent care. Also, I have made it an effort to communicate the best options for the patient and advise accordingly, to help them make an informed decision regarding their health care provision. Patience and perseverance are traits that I have acquired along the way to concrete my career.
I have been engaged in the intensive care unit in most years of my experience. Compassionate care for critically ill patients has always resulted in commendable patient satisfaction. As a result, I have received excellent evaluations over the years, which has driven me to passionately work harder in reaching higher heights in my nursing career. Initially, I had feared that I would not handle the pressure and tension from caring for critically ill patients. However, with time, I have learned to adapt, and by now, I believe I have all it takes to achieve a successful nursing career. Currently, I am a member of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses and the Diversity in Nurse Anesthesia Mentorship Program.
Over time, I have acquired several leadership skills from various experiences and colleagues in different sets. Currently, I manage patients requiring ECMO, Impella, IABP, CRRT, and TTM, and apply hemodynamic data from PA catheters and arterial lines to improve patient care and outcomes. While dealing with the patients, I have learned that people are different, mainly due to their educational, religious, or cultural differences. Therefore, it is essential that I approach all people differently, which requires patience, humility, and perceptiveness. From my superiors, I have received several lessons, like the need for research, keenness on details, and following all pre-set rules. My superiors have treated me with respect and understanding at all times, which I will always reciprocate to my juniors.
I find nursing career interesting, with endless possibilities of growth and impacting people's lives. I value human health above one's ethnic, social class, or religious background. Pursuing CRNA has been my dream towards improving patient's health. I look forward to starting the CRNA program, and I believe I am capable of completing a successful course.
