For the majority of people, a dream job amounts to receiving a high salary, gaining fame and occupying a high post in an organization. Most individuals have only the goal of having a comfortable life. Nevertheless, I would say that my basis for having a dream job is different from the conventional approach. My dream job is related to my interests, skills, and abilities. Additionally, it offers the challenge to motivate me to achieve more. I want to be a hotel manager because this job relates to my interests, skills, and abilities. I am a hard worker and have perfect organization skills that are essential in this field.
The fact that I work hard and I am organized will be critical in ensuring that there is the efficient and profitable operation of a restaurant while upholding its good reputation and ethos. I will be good in the coordination of activities irrespective of the outlet size. My education has equipped me with the skills necessary for strategic planning and management of daily activities. I choose hotel management as my dream job because it is exciting and fast paced and it is ideal for someone like me who enjoys working with people and in the food industry (Sawyers, 2017). Despite it being an exciting opportunity, I am often terrified due to responsibilities that accompany that position regardless of whether I will be in charge of a small group or many employees. While working as a hotel manager seems glamorous, I understand that it entails working longer hours, making hard decisions and performing unpleasant tasks such as disciplining and terminating staff employment. It is important to point out that I choose to work as a hotel manager as my dream because it aligns with my skills, abilities, and interests of serving people and working in the food industry (Sawyers, 2017). Secondly, it gives a chance to live a glamorous life. Despite money not being by core incentive, such a job comes with a better pay that will allow me to enjoy vacation and even own a good home for my family.
Being a hotel manager will give me a chance to direct the hotel (Smith, 2018). I like to influence people's lives positively and this will help me make the workplace both inspiring and fulfilling, in addition, to being able to make our clients happy. It gives an opportunity for personal growth in that I will need to an expert in the food industry to offer appropriate leadership to my colleagues, make decisions and learn the cutting edge aspects of this industry for development purposes. This means I will have to be a continuous learner which translates to doing more research, attending classes and participating in conferences ("A Hospitality Dream Job", 2015). This gives the rewards of personal growth. Working as a hotel manager will enable me to be in control of the high impact tasks which is highly rewarding and exciting. It will be exciting to offer directions to a hotel due to the decisions I have made. I will also be able to mentor others through guidance and feedback when it is needed. I will help my employee set goals and reward them for the accomplishment of those goals. I can conclude by saying being a hotel manager is my dream job and the perfect job since it will give the opportunity to be who I want, utilize my skills in addition to becoming better since it ensures continuous learning and development.
