Introduction
Championing Christ refers to the proclamation of the word of God to the nations which is the market, and the word of God is the product. There is significant demand in the market for the word of God and preachers have a significant role to play in proclaiming the teachings of Jesus Christ to the world. However, in the ministry of Christ, there are challenges and opportunities. Champions of Christ should capitalize on the opportunities to preach the gospel and pray to overcome the challenges in the Christian ministry today (Ogunewu, 2014). The people are the market, and there are different competing religions and philosophies which undermine the preaching of Christ. As a product, it is important for Christians to invest on research on how best to deliver the word of God to the modern consumers with the modern challenges that threaten the practicability of the ministry of Christ to preach the gospel to the world (Ogunewu, 2014). This paper will assess the challenges and the opportunities faced by Christ champions in their mission to preach the gospel to the world.
Challenges in Championing Christ
Persecution of Christians
Today, most people have turned away from the trust and faith in God, and manly philosophies have corrupted men who persecute believers. Championing Christ requires Christians and evangelists to overcome the opposition and the persecution in the world today to realize the kingdom of God that Jesus commanded his disciples to create. The new gospel is for all the people and not only the Jews who were the primary targets of God as his people. However, preaching to the non-believers is challenged by the existence of philosophies and other religions that claim similar authenticity to that of Christianity (Chapman, 2012). Secular states dominated by secular philosophies have persecuted the preachers of the gospel and also corrupted the church today. Preaching Christ in the 21st century has been besieged by the worldly truth that is fostered by the philosophies of men. During the communist era Christians were persecuted and in some countries today especially those dominated by Muslims Christians and the gospel preachers are persecuted and even executed. The war in the Middle East has significantly afflicted the Christians in Syria and Iraq who are targeted by the Islamic State group which seeks to establish an Islamic state in the entire Middle East (McCallum, 2012). In Asia especially China today Christians are denied the freedom of worship which poses a significant threat to the Christian believers and preachers who are persecuted by the state failure to grant freedom of worship.
Opportunities in Championing for Christ
Preaching Peace and Healing to the World
The world today is divided by war and anti-Christ opposition in different parts of the world due to the rise of pluralism and the radicalization of other religions (Ogunewu, 2014). Championing for Christ today to those afflicted by war and incurable diseases is an opportunity to the evangelists and Christians. Christians have the opportunity to declare peace and healing into the world which is ravaged by war and hatred. In Syria, Christians are persecuted by the Islamic state, and as champions of Christ, it is important to share and give hope to strengthen the faith of those that are afflicted by the enemy (Chapman, 2012).
Preaching the Love of God and Unity
Champions of Christ in the 21st century have a duty to preach the love of God and to unify the church through the teachings of Christ. Jesus preached that the church is a bride and it is important to remain dignified and strengthened in the times of temptation. The world today is in chaos, and Christ believers should stand in faith and in prayer to strengthen those that are persecuted (Samani et al., 2014). Jesus commanded that the word of God should be preached to all nations and people without discrimination and evangelists should see an opportunity in the chaos of today to preach the gospel to the world.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the word of God as a product and world as a market it is important for Christians not to despair due to challenges but be strengthened through faith and prayer to continue the work of Christ to the world. The chaos and the suffering of the people is an opportunity for the champions of Christ to preach love, peace, and unity.
