Materials: Social studies textbook, a scripted story on diversity based on teachers own work, role play, group discussion and class discussion.

Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be conversant with the meaning of diversity and its application in real-life situations.

Motivation Techniques

Engage: Motivation and Strategies of motivation

Motivation is significant at the beginning of the lesson to increase the learners interest in the lessons.

Evaluate: One of the motivation techniques included in the lesson is: warming up by engaging in small conversations with the children on how they are feeling, what they want to share and so forth.

Explore: The next step is a review which entails making students recall the previous lesson by asking them, What did we learn last time? Did you practice what we learned to do outside of class? Does anyone have anything to share about what we learned? The review is followed by introducing the topic and testing the knowledge of the learners.

Presenting students with a story with the theme of diversity

Providing students with the assignment identifying aspects of diversity among their friends and family.
