Introduction

Infant deaths in the U.S. are much higher than in other countries. The statistics from the hospitals and the registrar's office have gone way before to prove the figures put forward. The deaths occur either before the infants are born, either through miscarriage or premature death before the kid is born. These infant deaths occur to kids who don't make to see their first birthday. The statistics are, however, not balanced between the races found in the United States of America. African American mothers are greatly affected as compared to American mothers. The case is different for African American mothers because their examples are twice as high as compared to American mothers. Most mothers make sure that they have access to avenues for physical exercise to remain fit and provision of the right kind of food most preferably balanced diet for the development of the baby. The mothers also make sure to avoid alcohol and the abuse of any drugs that would interfere with not only their health but also the baby's. The factors favor the American mothers who have access to all that because they are wealthy. There is a belief in the general notion that with wealth, you can access the best and that you are guaranteed better health care. The chances of contracting deadly diseases such as cancer or any other for that matter are also minimal.

Neonatologists James Collins and Richard David believed that African American women have high risks during pregnancy because of the racism they receive over the years as they stay in those areas. Drs. Collins and David demonstrated that African immigrants and women born in the U.S. had similar birth outcomes. But it was discovered that most African American women had babies that weighed less. It was, however, found out that the results changed over time: consequences for the African-born group worsened and became comparable to the African American group. African American women undergo a lot of discriminatory treatment that may cause them stress and strain during their pregnancy period. They are also forced to work as twice as hard to make sure they provide and at par with their American counterparts. The babies also weighed less as compared to other American women borne babies because of the possible lack of access to a balanced and the right kind of food for the African American mothers. The children born in America, however, had better chances of survival as compared to those born in Africa. The reason being in the United States of America, there are better and advanced health care services, unlike in Africa.

Everything that happens to a human depends on the kind of stuff that occurs in the womb during that period. The genetic composition and the immune levels of the kid are also developed while in the womb and from the nutrients that they get from the mother during that period while in the womb. The first eight weeks speak of a single cell, so tiny, which transforms into a human fetus. A person's life starts from the minute he/she is conceived. After this, everything takes a different twist and turns altogether. The months in between show the period when the sex of the fetus is known, various body parts begin to form, and the fetus fully develops into a baby. The nourishment of the fetus is directly from the mother, and that is the reason the mothers are advised to eat well and in the right proportions of food. After nine months, a baby is brought into the world and kicks the journey to being a fully grown human being. Part of the immune system of the child is developed during the breastfeeding period, and thus they should be breastfed in the required time to enhance immunity. We grow from being toddlers to teenagers to mature adults. Growth of a baby to an adult majorly focuses on three aspects: nature and nurture, stability and change, continuity, and stages.
