Introduction
The human immunodeficiency virus is a lent virus which causes HIV infection in the human body and later developed into AIDS condition (Rushing 200-209). It is imperative to note that when I contracted HIV it b basically took me a little more time to realize the virus was already in my system. Being a nun and a professional nurse came to understand not only through sexual intercourse that one can get access to the HIV but through another way like my case. Immediately I joined the practice I got engaged in a blood contact with one patient who needed attention to his open wound that is when the blood sample came into contact leading to my AIDs condition(Rushing 200-209). Notably, the purpose of this paper is to unravel my encounter with the HIV condition under the following subheadings:
Ways of contracting HIV
The myth behind the contraction of HIV still poised a greater contradiction since some societies an alongside other professionals do not fully understand the theory of contracting the HIV while practicing in a medical profession like in my case(Robinson et al. 383-398). Imperatively, sexual intercourse forms the most appropriate means through which a good number of people in the society do contact the pandemic. Significantly, the virus which is found highly accumulated in the fluid parts of the body such as the virginal fluids, semen penetrates into another system when unprotected sexual intercourse involves an infected person. On the other hand, a blood transfusion as well as mother to child transmission at birth and through free breastfeeding also forms a better percentage upon which any individual in the social contract the disease.
The incubation period of HIV
Immediately when I got into contact with the HIV, I vividly remember I developed a slight flue and some slight headache the condition disappeared, and the HIV signs showed up five years later. Notably, the incubation period varies depending on the age of the person. for example for the adults, the incubation period goes up to 10 years with regards to the lifestyle while those people below the age of 20 will relatively have a lower incubation period(Robinson et al. 383-398).
Signs and symptom of HIV/AIDs
In the first few days of I developed a regular flu headache persisted condition that started worrying me to conduct an HIV test in my system. On the other hand, the skin rashes and which is often accompanied by some sores which pain for a while and then joined by the swollen gland. My health condition worsened, and several infections affected continuously by system sign indicating that the T -cells which offer protection to the body had become weak to provide adequate protection to the infectious diseases. Other symptoms include fever and night sweats (Rushing 200-209).
HIV/AIDs preventive measures
As part of my preventive measures got tested and accepted my condition thereby I commenced my medication as prescribed by the professional doctor (Rushing 200-209). Similarly, there are some measures which when adopted positively can help keep members of the public safety to the HIV/AIDs pandemic. Earlier testing, having protected and less risky sexual intercourse alongside being watchful to minimize infection in the line of duty can help reduce the rate of infection. Similarly, appropriate use of antiretroviral drugs as well delivering in the health facilities to support the mother to child transmission during birth.
