Introduction
Meyers Brigg Type Indicator (MBTI) is a form of self-report inventory that was initially developed to identify the personality type of an individual, their strengths, and preferences. It is, therefore, important to understand its purpose, construct in the case formulation and treatment plan being assessed, and the importance of the construct to the client. It is also important to understand the strengths and weaknesses of MBTI, identify the part of the case formulation and treatment plan form the results will help in filling out, and the situation that would be the best to use the test.
The Purpose of the Test
MBTI's key purpose is to make the theory of psychological types that C.G. Jung prescribed to make them understandable to everyone and make them useful to everybody's lives. One of the most significant facts about the theory is that it focuses more on the behavior associated with some form of consistency. That is mainly due to the differences through which people prefer using perceptions and judgments (Judy Tran HBSc, 2018). The test aimed at increasing the accessibility of the type theory to different people and groups.
Construct in the Case Formulation and Treatment Plan Accessed
The construct in the case formulation and treatment plan being assessed is sensing (S)-Intuition (N). That is a form of case formulation and treatment plan that can help understand why the patient enjoys thinking about the possibilities and the abstract theories.
The importance of the construct to the client is that it helps gather information from the world around them. It would be important since everyone spends most of their time sensing and intuiting based on their current situations.
Strengths and Limitations of MBTI
One of the key strengths of the MBTI is that the clients who have already been introduced to the topology identify it as a means to assist them while making sense to themselves. It has been recognized even by the people without any psychological training to be real (Sritharan & Ragel, 2016). Another strength is that it helps in avoiding any form of negative personality traits, which included neuroticism; any difference between the people that may be existing is described as normal.
A key limitation of the test is that the theory is associated with much simplicity that people may assume to be experts in MBTI within a short period. It makes people fail to have an understanding of the importance of having a better understanding of the theory to be in a better position of administering the test.
The most significant part of the case formulation and treatment plan, the results generated, will help in filling out is the facts and details and enjoy getting hands-on experience. Filling this part would play a significant role since it may help understand why the patient prefers intuition and why he pays more attention to various things, including patterns and impressions.
Conclusion
One of the most appropriate situations for using MBTI is when people dominate within a particular area compared to the other. MBTI would help in this situation understand how people who prefer to use sensing tend to have a significant deal of attention to reality compared to others and, most especially, what they tend to learn from their senses.
