Ford motors were founded in 1896 by Henry Ford, an entrepreneur, with an objective of producing automobiles to meet the growing demand back then (Patrina, 2014). In the beginning, Henry had no idea what his company would grow to become. However, the founder was known for his style of conducting business that was characterized by confidence, strategy planning, critical thinking, and being aggressive (Patrina, 2014). The four strategies were passed down as a company tradition, thus resulting in the working motto stated above.

Four Strategies

The four strategies formulated by the founder are applied up to date to ensure the customers receive high-quality services. First, the company is aggressive in its work structure; the act enables them to operate on profits while maintaining a balance between demand and supply in the market. Secondly, Ford Motors works to accelerate the development of all new car models; the marketing department does surveys to gather information on consumers' needs, which makes the agenda possible. Another important attribute practiced by the organization is maintaining its financial structure (Patrina, 2014). With a balanced flow between input and output of finances, the company is able to fund its projects by leveraging its assets. The final strategy practiced by Ford Motors is teamwork; this attribute is more of a company tradition that entails all its workers working in unity to achieve the set goals.

Other than the company's strategies, there are various philosophies practiced by Ford Motors to run its operations. They include the invention of new quality products; the aspect is achieved by entertaining the freedom of critical thinking and new ideas from developers. Second is ensuring quality processing for the new products and improvement of existing models. The third is positioning these models in the market for sale; these are attained through market research and promotions for the products. Finally, the practice paradigm is in accordance with the market research to ensure that the new products are accessible to the consumers that can best utilize it (Patrina, 2014).

Strategies and Philosophies

The strategies and philosophies practiced by Ford motors have proved effective throughout its existence. The two aspects have enabled the organization to maintain the top five positions in the automobile industry for a long period. Ford Motor has been estimated to make more than one billion dollars in net profitability, and their consistency is one of the best in the industry. The company’s reputation not to have closed operations for any organization for recession gives them credit despite not being at the top of the market. Unlike competitors like Toyota and Chrysler, the organization does not depend on Federal relations but functions independently. Ford motors have also developed customer programs that enable their users to receive cash as incentives and improve to better-improved vehicle models that are more financially friendly. The service is offered to customers as an alternative option to trade-ins and strong demand for car models such as F-150n pickups (Patrina, 2014).

To stay relevant in the market, Ford Motors has adapted different modes of operation throughout its history in the automobile industry. For instance, in the early 19th century, the company produced an automobile stereotype referred to as Model T. The model was meant to help users to perform their daily errands effectively. To make the mission possible, the company sold the product at an affordable price of $825.00. The new product did not produce sales as expected by the producers, and they later reduced the price to $575.00 (Patrina, 2014). To balance the production and sale output, the company produced a variety of vehicles creating a monopoly in the market. With these products, the organization developed a customer service referred to as the Get-together line. The service enabled consumers to lease the new models or access them through credit and pay in installments in the long-term (Patrina, 2014). The idea that was invented by Henry Ford has been applied up to date and has managed to push several brands into the market effectively. Ford motors industry has been able to challenge all automobile manufacturers in the market by providing quality services to their customers who, in turn, have developed trust for the company.

Since Ford Motors began its operations, it has adapted different hiring methods that best suit the company's mission and vision. In the past, applications were conducted manually through paper and personal interviews. With advance in technology in recent years, the company has adopted the online system to hire its workers. However, throughout the transition process, the main objective of the organization is to ensure that all workers are engaged in all the levels of operation in the company.

HR Programs

The human resource (HR) department of the organization has devised programs to train the employees and help them sharpen their skills. To put the skills into use, the workers are engaged fully in all the company's activities regardless of their level on the management pyramid. To make the program more effective, the employees are encouraged to adapt to the company’s traditional teamwork tradition. Through a team effort, the employees are able to stay connected with the management, co-workers, peers, and the immediate community. In addition, the workers specialized in consumer relations are given the freedom to build long-lasting relationships with loyal customers. The specialists can then derive information from these consumers to help increase the level of creativity and innovation in the company. The aspect enables the personal development of the employees and improves the overall performance of the team.

Human resource management tends to apply the transactional method of leadership to govern their employees. The procedure involves a negative and positive reward system; this system works by rewarding the employees who perform the best in the organization and ensuring that those who perform poorly get negative results too (Beer, 2017). It is not automatic that there must be a loser in the process; instead, if all the employees attain positive results, they are well appreciated by getting bonuses, salary raises, or promotions. The process might seem unfair at times, but realistically, nobody wants an unproductive employee. The system motivates the majority of the employees to work hard and be recognized for their efforts (Beer, 2017). Many companies do not compensate their employees for the extra effort they put in for the organization's well-being. Additionally, the employees who perform negatively do not lose their jobs immediately; instead, they are suspended or given unpaid leave then given another chance to prove their worth. That privilege is not guaranteed for all employees at their respective places of work.

Another benefit of working at Ford Motors is that it covers all its employees' health insurance. For instance, if an individual is unfortunate to get an accident in the line of duty, the organization takes responsibility for all the expenses incurred during his recovery process. However, the incident has to be accidental, and there should prove that the subject in question was following the safety precautions put in place by the company (Patrina, 2014). The company works on the principle that the security and well-being of their workers is an asset. That is because, without healthy workers at their disposal, it would be impossible to achieve their respective goals. Additionally, Ford Motors supports employees who are unlucky to get long-term diseases such as cancer. Such workers are given paid leave to give them time to recover.

Major Risks

One of the major risks associated with working at Ford Motors is being exposed to various health hazards. The automobile industry deals with a lot of radioactive machinery related to life-threatening infections such as cancer (Patrina, 2014). Even with a covered insurance plan provided by the company, it does not guarantee a hundred percent safety. The majority of equipment used in the manufacturing industry is large and bulky. If an individual has an accident while operating such equipment, there is a high probability of developing a lifetime disability. However, if one is specialized in such operations, it is impossible to avoid such risks in their line of work (Wang et al, 2012). Hence, one must consider such factors before getting involved in the automobile industry.

Another negative aspect associated with working at Ford Motors is the probability of employees to overwork. Considering that the organization applies the compensational technique of administration for workers, it proves that it has developed a highly competitive environment. Such a situation means that every individual will be trying to come out as the best. The company's environment tends to encourage unhealthy competition within its employees in an attempt to get credits in the form of bonuses and promotions. Employees are given a thirty minutes’ lunch break, which is the only free time one is entitled to at the organization. The technique only tends to benefit a few workers rather than the entire working force of the company. This policy is a discouragement to the employees at the automobile company since not everyone can enjoy the benefits of their hard work.

The third major potential risk of working in the automobile industry is the interdependency of operations. The Ford Motors company tends to incorporate a variety of undertrained employees in the form of interns and associates (Patrina, 2014). The tendency poses a great risk to other workers considering the technicality of equipment operated on a daily basis. If there are many undertrained individuals, the probability of one of them making an honest mistake is relatively high. Additionally, the machines are upgraded on a regular basis, whereas training is not conducted in the same manner. The company must recruit a manageable number of newbies to minimize such risks.

Ford Motors has been faced with several lawsuits regarding the neglect of human rights. The matter has affected its repetition hence hindering the interest of talented individuals working in the automobile industry. During the start-up process, Henry Ford applied various strategies that were considered viable during that particular time. However, the industry has evolved, and some of these rules are not applicable anymore.

Conclusion

Finally, Ford motors tend to advocate for unity and hard work as they work towards their goal of becoming the leading automobile company worldwide. Currently, the institution is ranked fifth generally and still moving up the ranks. The company's mission is to ensure they fulfill all their customers' needs by providing them with the best vehicle models at a financially friendly price. The organization's working motto encourages its workers to work as a team with one plan that is to achieve one goal.
