The United States of America falls in the category of countries around the globe that possess a clear-cut healthcare system. According to White (2015), the USA's healthcare sector has run into major conspicuous developments and changes that have made it possible for it to have a national health system. Almost all debates regarding healthcare in the country pirouette on citizens' rights to healthcare. The country has been leveling to possess a healthcare system that can give people access, equality to healthcare, and the privilege to go for any treatment. Most of the USA's steps and procedures are routed towards pulling off effectiveness and efficiency in the healthcare sector.
To reduce the healthcare budget and make it cost-effective for the citizens, the healthcare managers and policymakers in the country need to conduct better research on the scope and application of a single-payer system. The idea can be done on a reflection of the application in Canada (Yong, Saunders & Olsen, 2010). The payer system can lessen the rates of the surging healthcare costs in the state, which is considered as a burden to the people in terms of paying for more premiums by reducing it. The healthcare system will turn cheaper hence increasing the total coverage and a reduction in healthcare inequalities. The single-payer system will bring more positive changes in the US healthcare market and, hence, serve as a good consideration at the time of need. Alternately, creating a national healthcare system may attest strain in the country because of the huge percentage of private sectors operating the country’s health care system (White, 2015). The percentage insinuates that the effective working of the national healthcare system needs collaboration between the public and private sectors.
The tenth amendment, which was part of the Bill of Rights to the USA Constitution, was enacted on December 15, 1971 (Rossum, 2018). The amendment played a vital role in expressing the federalism, rights, and freedoms of the people and the state. The amendment's main objective and purpose were to sort out the power between the federal firms and the state agency to establish a clear facet of powers and control. According to the tenth amendment, any power that lacked a clear connection or association to the federal government or government state was to be granted to the state and the American citizens (Rossum, 2018). Other powers such as Taxation, police, and legal regulations were separated and tied up to be handled at the federal and state levels. In general, the amendment guarantees that the citizens of America will have a certain capacity to react in case of limitation by the government to offer affordable healthcare services.
