Forced labour can be defined an s any work which individuals are forced to do without their will (Lewis, Dwyer, Hodkinson,& Waite,2015). This could come under threat or sometimes could be accompanied by punishment. An example of forced labour is slavery practice. Currently, in the country, the aspect of forced labour has been affecting millions of children men and women. The aspect of forced labour is rampant in the following industries; agriculture and finishing, construction mining, quarrying and brick skills. It is also found in prostitution and sexual exploitations.

One of the theories which have been significantly been used to explain the origin and the causes of forced labour is poverty and freedom theory. According to this theory, poverty can be said to be one of the root cause of the forced labour. It illustrates that when one is facing adverse poverty, they can be easily lured into works or certain jobs which otherwise they would not have indulged in. because of poverty majority of individuals are therefore forced to situations which could be considered as exploitative. This theory, therefore, concludes that, as much as poverty can push one to do jobs that they are not comfortable doing, it is also possible of these individuals to refuse to get into such jobs through their freedom to express their rights. This kind of theory, therefore, expands on the concept of vulnerability and coercion. This can range from a personal perspective to the structural perspective. As much as the freedom theory allows these individuals to say no to some form of labour exploitation, the critical thing that must be addressed is also the people who are behind these exploitations (Phillips & Mieres, 2015).

The effect of forced labour is adverse. To some extent, it has been reported as an aspect which can even result in the loss of life (Phillips & Mieres, 2015). In light of this, there is great need to look at ways in which it can be curbed or ways in which it can be stopped. These are believed to be some of the best strategies which can be applied to ensure that the vice comes to an end. Some of these strategies include;

The recommendations on the issues can be either categorized as long-term or shorter. For the long term, the available entrepreneurs in the city should be able to push their representative to the Congress with the objectives of amending some of the trade an agreement so that they can implement. For the short term, however, the following strategies can be used to help avoid the aspect of forced labour. First, the city manager should asses the risk which is associated with the forced labour. Knowing the risk of the forced labour will bring out the actual people who are directly affected by the vice. Secondly, the available labour contracts should be tightened. Once a risk has been identified, should be effectively amended with various suppliers so as to enforce large financial penalties in case they fail to disclose the suppliers who are using the forced labour finally, the city manager should be directly involved in the fight of forced labour. They s hold ensure that all the laws which have been set aside guiding labour are well adhered to. They should ensure that all the previous companies are given priorities and set the example by setting some of the offenders in jail.
