Introduction

Resistencia refers to the action as well as the effect of resisting. Its loose definition is resisting arrest or robbery, which is followed by death. Resistencia involves police who kill netizens, or who arbitrates those killings (Lerner, 2016). The presumption about Resistencia is that those who get killed are guilt while the officers who kill them are assumed as innocent (Lerner, 2016).

Anthropological Opinion About “Resistencia”

Resistencia is another way used to spread fear to the public by the use of police brutality. Resistencia thus goes beyond a legal trope that delineates the illegality of not following the law. The government in Rio’s favelas, for example, is to ensure there are law and order as well as ensuring people are living in good conditions (Vox, 2016). However, in Rio de Janeiro, the government has abandoned this role, which has resulted in poverty in the region, and consequently, criminal activities, as people operate with their own rules to justify their survival. Police impunity, which includes shooting netizens and purposive alteration of evidence, is also common in the region, which thus maintains Resistencia to be brutal activity orchestrated by the state officers (Fernando, 2018). Additionally, informality, lack of regulation, and flexibility have resulted in corruption and gang influences in the region, and through the pacification process, the police have attempted to gain control and escalate their drug wars from these gangs. This results in people clandestinely ordinarily opposing with police violence.

Conclusions

La Favela, the City of God, consists of a low-income slum neighborhood in Brazil with a vast experience of historical governmental neglect. In this region, people are unable to afford proper housing, and they have sought refuge in the slapdash residences which government considered as illegitimate. It also features extremely poor neighborhoods that are overcrowded and have poor living conditions. With high drug rates, Resistencia was in operation on gang wars with killings that lower life expectancy. Rocket, one of the main characters in the film, has a positive relationship with other characters and is also likable. He exasperated hard in keeping away from crime and drugs. Rocket connects to the central theme of poverty; he has nothing but dreams of becoming a photographer. Lil Ze, on the other hand, connects to the central themes of power and conflicts as he leads the top gangs in the City of God. He exploits the city for his own gain. Latin America is among the world’s places with poorest living conditions. The unequal countries should explore the relationship between social ethics and creativity in design culture to eliminate slums and extreme poverty. Also, the countries should abolish the archaic and dysfunctional international tax system. The governments should take concerted as well as coordinated action in building a progressive tax system within the auspices of the United Nations.
