The description of evidence-based practice is anchored on three fronts to improve the quality of any outcome. The first front is based on external evidence that pertains to the best practice, the randomized control trials, and the clinical practice procedures that give support to a change in clinical practice. The other issue is on the internal evidence which revolves around the healthcare institution that is based on clinical prowess, the outcome of the managerial initiatives, and the improvement of quality based projects. In most events, the evidence-based practice assists health experts in addressing health care related concerns from the qualitative and evaluative front (Kim & Mallory, 2014).
On the part of the research, the primary concern is deduced on a systematic investigation and study of different sources to acquire facts that will aid in the realization of new conclusions. Research is mostly done to validate the already existing knowledge and involves making scientific inquiries to answer specific test hypotheses while using rigorous and disciplined methods. It should also be understood that research is not only about exploration, discovery, and investigation; it also pertains matters scientific philosophy (Connelly, 2016).
Based on the discussed, the difference between evidence-based practice and research is deduced on their impact on practice. For example, the impact of research is noted on the generation of new knowledge needed to improve practice and also providing an addition to the professional prowess with the use of literature. On the part of evidence-based practice, the primary concern is deduced on the translation of knowledge to facilitate improvements in practice (Stevens, 2013).
The Importance and Application of Health Care Information and Data Mining
Health care information pertains to the data on a patient's medical history with the inclusion of procedural medical examination steps. The procedures pertain to the symptoms shown by the patients, diagnoses, procedures, and medical outcomes. The discussion of healthcare information also takes into account health information management which entails the practice of acquisition of medical data, analysis, and protection of traditional medical data in the bid of ensuring the provision of quality medical care.
On the other hand, data mining entails the process of discovering patterns, anomalies, and the correlations that exist in large data sets with the bid of predicting outcomes. Data mining also entails the use of a wide range of techniques with the bid of increasing revenue, cutting on costs, and facilitating the improvement of customer relationships and making a reduction in associated risks (Topaz & Pruinelli, 2017). Health care information and data mining are also important to the patient's care outcome.
The importance is noted from two fronts. The first front entails entailing health care information assisting medical practitioners in making an accurate diagnosis and offering accurate and quality medical intervention. Data mining is also important to application in patient care outcomes, considering how raw medical data is turned into useful information that aids in patient care improvement.
How Data Mining Influences Case Management and Utilizations
The influence of data mining on case management can be discussed on two grounds. The first ground entails the provision of new perspectives that are put to use when dealing with different types of cases. The next front pertains to data mining getting involved in the analysis and interpretation of large data sets to discover new patterns and use the discovered patterns in making predictions about the likelihood of the reoccurrence of such cases.
Case utilization on its part, entails the review of services particularly those that are medically required. The medically required cases are those that are most appropriate in a particular setting and are of high-quality standards. Data mining, therefore, provides for the acquisition of necessary information for case utilization. Once the information is acquired, sequential reviews are conducted to ensure that appropriate diagnosis is conducted.
The Description of Participants in Managed Care
Managed-care plans get construed as one of the types of health insurance. The care plans also involve contracts with medical facilities and health care providers in a bid of providing care for members at a subsidized rate. One of the managed care plans is the Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) which is run by the profit-making organizations to facilitate an increase in market share and cut down on cost. The main participants are the health care providers, specifically the physicians, different health care organizations, for example, the Health Maintenance Organization, the competitors of the organizations, and the companies managing the organizations (Lewis, Eiken, Amos, & Saucier, 2018).
The Importance of Quality Care Initiatives and Performance Indicators
Quality improvement initiatives have a direct relation to different service delivery approaches, the level that defines patient satisfaction, the efficacy in service delivery, and the associated medical outcome. Some of its importance include safety in service delivery. The safety is acquired through an organized and systematic approach that is premised on the optimization of care for patients.
The other importance is efficiency, which is achieved through the improvement of medical processes. The third importance is based on the initiatives getting concerned with patient-centered care services. The initiative ensures that efficiency is improved through the managerial and clinical processes hence leaving transition for doctors and medical staff in offering value-based, respectful, and responsive care to patients (Kronick, 2016). The other importance is based on cost-effectiveness in service delivery. Performance indicators are equally important based on the measurement function they perform in ensuring quality service delivery.
