Introduction

Taylor as white CEO of a hospital in council district 16 lives a peaceful life where he is assured of safety and peace. This is because he can afford a decent house in a good neighborhood where there is no insecurity. He explains that he is glad to be in a neighborhood where he can be outside and know that he is safe and that he can exercise and walk around. Consequently, statistics have proven that people who live in this region have a high life expectancy of about 80 years (Adelman et al, 2008)

Secondly, Tondra Yong is a 37-year-old African-American who lives in district 24 and works as a lab supervisor in a hospital. As seen in the video, Yong is expected to graduate from college soon. As such, research has shown that the life expectancy of those who graduate from college is quite higher than that of those who graduate from high school. Nonetheless, it is seen that the life expectancy of those in district 16 is much more than of those in district 24. (75 years) (Adelman et al, 2008)

On the other hand, Anderson Corey works as a janitor in Jim Taylors hospital and is an African-American. Together with his wife, they do not earn much and consequently, life has not been so easy for them. Anderson suffers from hypertension becoming part of the 1/3 residents living with this condition in district 21. The average expectancy here is less than that in Yong's and Jim's districts (Adelman et al, 2008)

Comparison of data maps of the rates of diseases in the different Louisville council districts reveals that the rate of deaths is more in the west end. This further reveals that the districts are poor; the reason for increased deaths. However, the east and north are regarded much wealthier neighborhoods thus record a lower number of deaths and diseases. As such, the children in the wealthier districts tend to perform better in schools as compared to those who come from districts in the West End.

The theories of poverty indicate that poverty in the US may be due to many reasons. One of the theories of poverty discussed in class is individual deficiencies. This theory is highly focused on religious doctrine resulting in many people within the US relying on the Protestant work ethic. The system shows how those who work hard are always rewarded for their efforts as those that do not continue to feel the pressure of poverty.

Conclusion

Consequently, as portrayed by this theory, poverty is as a result of incompetence, bad choices laziness or inherent disabilities. This theory further shows how many children end up in juvenile systems, or how they fail in schools. For instance, if a child comes from a family where the parents or guardians are lazy and do not want to work, (meaning that it is often difficult for the family to afford some basic needs), he/she may end up performing poorly in school. In addition, the child may develop bad behaviors such as stealing from others as the family cannot provide for him/her
