Introduction
Age represents life experience wealth that shapes who we become in the future. With social policies, medical advancements, and technological advancement, then this will result in human life prolongment. Old age has thus developed a new meaning in the society as technology helps in enabling older people to be informed with the latest information and news. It also helps them to keep in touch with family members and social service providers through medium such as telehealth and internet.
Current Opportunities Through Aging Process
Adoption of technology use by individuals has helped in ensuring that people are intellectually connected and engaged to people of their age group with similar interests. The technological use among people will enable them attain a high level of cognitive performance currently and in future. This use of technology will help individuals during their old age in providing for health information and in engaging with peer in their support groups. Telehealth is the other assistive technology that will help older adults. Telehealth technology refers to equipment, devices or products that individuals with problems such as mental limitations may use. The other way in which technology will be used by older people is by engaging older people in online health consultations. Moreover, most government in developed and developing countries, are in the forefront in investing heavily through ensuring that every individual benefit from social policies and programs that will help them in their old age, the policies and programs includes medicare policy and social security contribution, age-based programs such as categorical and universal benefits.
Older Adult Well Being 30 Years in Future
By the year 2050, the aged population around the world is expected to double. The growth and demographic change will be influenced by current sustainable development. (WHO, 2019). Although, the current society is faced with difficult and complex policy choices that are related to income security, aging services network. It is evident that older adults who may have benefited in the social policy and technological knowledge and advancement entering the aging process not be faced by social, health, or economic challenges as they will be equipped with the necessary experiences acquired in the middle age. The aged group will be able to quickly adapt to new challenges and be able to participate in every sphere of their life. (Wozniak, 2013). Moreover, technology such as AI has contributed to success in healthcare management as it makes stride in the detection of early disease, which could affect a person in the future, thus enabling people to live longer. In the future, there will be smarter technological innovations that will help meet the needs of older people throughout their lifespan.
Recent trends in the population indicate that every country should ensure that it anticipates some significant growth among older people over the coming years. Through understanding this population trend, the government should anticipate some future needs among the older people and implement the social policies and programs and also support the use and adoption the technology. Moreover, social policy is said to increase productivity among the aging people and thus reduce the burden of dependent generation in the future. Social policies that stress improving the lives of aged people at later life may have a positive impact on lessening the future burden.
