The event, in this case, is a process that involved studying a module within this MSc program entitled Physiology and Metabolism. To complete the module, I had to research and read from external sources, besides the normal lesson notes and materials.

Thinking/Feeling

I found both the lessons and the technical side of the module very interesting. AL AIN, to gain the first-hand experience regarding nutrition. In some cases, it was frustrating that I could not read and write in Arabic. On the other hand, I benefited from understanding and speaking Arabic; thus I was able to communicate with Emiratis.

Evaluation

The module helped me understand more on nutrients break down in the human body. The use of various nutrients in the specific body organs, cells, and muscles is now clearer to me. The module has taught me that there is too much more I need to research and update myself about metabolism. I learned how to get credible information sources on the metabolic topic. On the technical side, I have learned that the more I interact with the community, the more I understand the nutrition problems at the grass root level. I have also learned the importance of integrating with the community.

Conclusion

Metabolism determines various nutrition-related consequences in the human body. Eating the required content of a balanced diet leaves one with enough nutrients for energy provision and growth. However, eating excess leaves more glucose in the body, which is eventually turned into fats and the effect is obesity. On the technical side, nutritionists have a very important role in helping the community understand the importance of healthy living.

Action Plan

I will continue to study and do more research on body metabolism through scientific research journals and reports. I will also take lessons to understand how to read and write in Arabic to improve my communication abilities with the Al Ain community. The clinical nutritionist role will continue to help me integrate and socialize more with the community and thus help me understand people in general.

Thus, communication and thinking skills and necessary were enhanced through the diversity of people.

I can communicate in the Arabic language. Thus, I can integrate well with the local community. However, I cannot write or read in Arabic, a weakness am going to fix by taking Arabic classes

I am passionate about living my best and healthiest life because that is just it, we only have one life to live, and I will rather feel super awesome than not. I am also incredibly frustrated by the state of the food industry and how much we are not told, falsely marketed to, and how we are made to feel like things might not be in our control (this is my opinion).
