Introduction
The use of evidence-based practice in nursing has received high focus since it improves the quality of care. After collecting this evidence, it is essential to disseminate it appropriately for it to have the required effect. Several methods may get used to disseminate this information. However, they are not all useful in all cases, and therefore, a person needs to assess them to ensure that they will be sufficient. These methods include presenting in nursing forums, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, writing reports for lay-people, and using posters and pamphlets.
Appropriate Dissemination Strategy for Communicating EBP
In a care setting, an appropriate dissemination strategy should provide all the details of the process of obtaining the evidence, how to customize it to the environment, and its advantages. Thus, in this situation, the best method would be using a conference paper or publishing the evidence in a peer-reviewed journal that provides all the necessary information (Curtis, Fry, Shaban, & Considine, 2016). The advantage of these strategies is that they give all details regarding the processes used to obtain the evidence. Moreover, it allows the stakeholders to find ways of customizing and using the evidence in their setting. Finally, it complies with the ethical requirement of publishing the results of a research project when it involves human beings.
Dissemination Strategies that I would be Most Inclined to Use
When sharing information regarding EBP, I would likely use methods that will have the highest impact. That is, these strategies would have to lead to sustained change, thus, increasing the benefit of the evidence. Appropriate dissemination methods include using conference papers and journal articles that show these pieces of evidence. These methods will be useful since they will give the stakeholders will all the information that they need to know in full details.
Barriers that I might Encounter when Using these Strategies
While these strategies have a high potential for success in presenting results, they may pose some challenges to the process. Precisely, the nurses may not place high importance to the evidence since they are only seeing the results but not practicing it. Consequently, they may not apply the results in their practice. Secondly, the impact of these strategies would not last for long due to lack of motivation to use the results. Nurses are likely to implement changes after practicing the process and not just read about them (Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt, 2018). Therefore, since these strategies only give them material to read, they may not pay much attention to them. This implies that the second challenge will be sustaining the changes. However, a suitable method of dealing with these challenges is using the Advancing Research and Clinical practice through close Collaboration (ARCC) method. This strategy uses mentors, whose task will be ensuring that all nurses follow the proposed changes and ensuring that they have sustained results (Melnyk, Fineout-Overholt, Gallagher-Ford, & Stillwell, 2011). Therefore, this method will help improve the effectiveness of EBP.
Dissemination Strategies that I would be Least Inclined to Use
It is inappropriate to use short descriptions of the results, such as using pamphlets or posters. These media do not provide adequate details of the evidence and the process of obtaining them, thus, limiting their applicability. Therefore, I am less likely to use these strategies.
