Data science has always been my passion, which explains why I have chosen to study it and engage in activities that have initiated my career in the field. My background and experiences have primarily contributed towards my passion for pursuing a career in data science, which motivates me to undertake the master's program at the University of Michigan. First is my academic background, whereby I have a degree in mathematics and computer science, a combination which has much prepared me for the master's program through the knowledge that I have gained. Furthermore, I have had an internship with MassMutual Insurance Company, where I worked in a team that enhanced my experience and expertise in data analysis, as well as sharpening my interpersonal skills. Moreover, I have a passion for practical skills, which matches my passion for data science as it involves the handling of large volumes of data, which enhances my motivation to undertake the master's program further.

My life experiences are another reason for my decision to pursue the program; for example, when working as an intern at the MassMutual Insurance Company, I worked with data. I made a great achievement out of it. I was supposed to analyze the data that was given to me to establish which group of people would afford insurance. I used R studio, and the outcome was excellent, which increased my passion for my career in data science. On that basis, I also researched to establish the correlation that exists between marriage, ethnic groups, and the wage rate by basketballers, all of which cultivated my career and need for further education in the field.

My choice of the data science program is also motivated by the strengths that I possess, which I have demonstrated over time. First is my ability to grasp new skills and perfect them, which was evident during my internship period. That is a valuable asset as in data science, there are many skills that one needs to develop to be great at learning and outing the skills to work. My ability to network and work in teams is a high strength, as data science involves the acquisition of information, which can be obtained more easily when one has great interpersonal skills. Being organized is the other capability that motivates me towards further studies in data science, for example, being a team leader on multiple occasions and serving the role well, which can be valuable in my studies and practice of the skills that I will gain from there.

After undertaking my masters, there are various expectations that I have with regard to my career and academic goals. First, it will enable me to have a deeper understanding of various aspects of data science, which will increase my competency in the field. Furthermore, through learning, I will have a better network with other learners, which will be of benefit through brainstorming and gaining more skills through interaction and better career connections. Interaction with other stakeholders such as lecturers and project managers will be an added advantage, as their knowledge will be a great asset. My choice of the University of Michigan comes as a result of various motivations, first being that it is fully accredited to offer the course. Moreover, the University gives students an opportunity to work on live programs, so that they gain skills and further their experience in the field. Expansion of an individual's links and expertise is another strength associated with the university, as it enhances the continuous growth of the students based on the structure of its curriculum, as explained by Farahi et al. Based on all the above highlights, I am a good fit for the program, and it has all that I need to further my education and career aspirations.
