Introduction

The Book of Stuart little and the golden compass are very interesting books devoted to young people. They provide vital lessons to young people who believe that life cannot go on without the assistance of parents. As a result they portray the theme of parenting as illustrated by different characters such as Lyra and Staurt found in this books. In these two books the theme of childhood is demonstrated well. In these books we see Lyra and Staurt straggling with their lives when young. They could not get good education because they are orphans. They roam in different streets and they can also not staying in their homes because they luck parental care. The two could not also get good education and live comfortable lives and therefore had to survive on their own (Kowalski & Tessendorf, 2008). In the book of Stuart, it is illustrated that he is like a mouse given birth to by human beings and because he is started people believe that he can also be started in his mind and development. In the contrary, Lyra is depicted as an orphan who takes care of herself without the assistance of everybody.

The theme of childhood is depicted from these stories because these two books focuses more on the way Lyra and Staurt struggled when they were young. The book has a number of lessons to young people who believe that their lives cannot go on without the assistance of parents. These books revealed that it is possible so long as one is dedicated and committed to improve his or her life (Stuart, 2016). According to the book of Staurt little, it is depicted that Staurt was a person who looks like a mouse and ever small in size. Despite his size, he devoted his life without the assistance of parents or guardian in the streets until he received a good job, bought a vehicle and had a family like other people who grew together with their parents. In the same note, Lyra who was an orphan and a very patient girl struggled with her own life in the street until she developed herself. She is depicted in the book as a very ignorant girl but struggled until she became knowledgeable without going to school.

Through reading these books, it is easy to conclude that one determines his own destiny and it entirely depend on personal effort and commitment (Kowalski & Tessendorf, 2008). Parents only has the responsibility of providing childhood support such as providing shelter, food and guidance but the success depend on personal initiative (Stuart, 2016). This is illustrated in all these books as Staurt is seen working very hard while look for a job. At the same time Lyra struggled to develop herself while still young and because she had no parents there was nobody to support her in her education or who could help her acquire good education.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I learnt that parents play a significant role in the life of children. They take them to school, give them parental advice and shelter which are essential things in the lives of children. Suppose Lyra had her parents she could have not roamed in the streets and could have stayed with her parents until she became of age (Kowalski & Tessendorf, 2008). She could have also gone to good school which could have allowed her to get a very good job in the city. On the basis of the analysis of these books it is important to know that success is a personal initiative but not a parental role and therefore young people should not concentrate on the wealth of their parents but to devote themselves in their own personal development.
