The manufacturing process or organized into various sections including the ion section, manufacturing and production facility management section, manufacturing and assembly section, manufacturing engineering section, production planning, and quality assurance functions. In terms of management or leadership functions, the manufacturing process is organized into executive management, manufacturing or production managers, production line supervisors, and production workers.

The various concepts of the lean manufacturing process include bottlenecks, production scheduling, utilization time, and set up time. To begin with, set up time refers to the amount of time spent in preparing the processes and systems of manufacturing so as to make them ready for production. It is also the time it takes to transform a machine from the last time it was used in producing goods for the next time it will be needed for the nest production cycle.

Bottlenecks as a concept of the manufacturing process refer to those resources in the supply chain which requires the longest amount of time during the supply chain operations. They are like constraints or obstacles that tend to slow down the manufacturing and production processes. Bottlenecks affect the production process in that in a chain of processes, they usually reduce the supply chain's capacity when they are in a limited capacity (Davim, 2013). Moreover, they are congestions in the production system which prevents a company from producing at its maximum capacity.

According to Davim (2013), production scheduling is the practice of allocating and managing of a company's processes, manpower, capital, raw materials, events, and resources with the objective of balancing between the available resources and needs of customers. Production scheduling is also aimed at ensuring that an organization continues to operate cost-effectively with the available resources while meeting the needs of clients. The production schedule is also used in identifying te type of resources that will be consumed at any particular point in time.

Conclusion

The role of an operations manager in an organization is to manage personnel and raw materials involved in the production process (Kaushish, 2010). They also have oversight roles over supplies, purchasing, and inventories. An operations manager also performs human resources roles, such as staff development, assigning jobs to employees in the production process, hiring, and looking into the needs of employees.
