Introduction

Teachers are essential in developing the mindset of students by instilling values, principles, and norms that make them better in the future. A Nursing educator’s purpose is to transform the nursing industry by sharing knowledge to their students in the field of nursing. As a nursing tutor, my role is to inspire and equip my students with first-hand information. This will help me in redefining my thinking capabilities by implementing different theories and ideologies related to current health trends. Nursing is a field that teaches medical practitioners to be caring and understanding when handling patients in hospitals. These teachings help medical practitioners to improve in improving the health industry by offering quality services to patients.

However, in the field of teaching, there are barriers associated with teaching and learning. One, lack of enough time to finish the syllabus on time can affect the effectiveness of students. Two, poor motivational skills from a teacher might affect the performance of a student. Therefore, a teacher is required to come up with an effective way of motivating students in the class. Three, low self-esteem among students can affect their performance in class. Teachers are required to create a one on one interaction with their students (Bastable, 2007). This approach will help in understanding their strength and weaknesses in a particular field as well as identifying opportunities by nurturing them. Fourth, an unfriendly learning environment can affect the performance of students in the class. A teacher should incorporate different ideologies that will help in sharpening the minds of their students.

As a nursing educator, I am required to have a vast range of teaching skills that will in improving the performance of students. As a nursing educator, I prefer using personal reflection in sharing my challenges and breakthrough to my students. This will help them in overcoming their fears and pushing beyond limits. Students require the guidance of their teachers as a way of helping them in opening up about their experiences. Therefore, by opening up about their experience, a strong connection is created between students and teachers. As a nursing educator, I will use different teaching that will motivate students to become competent nurses in and out of the classroom.

Feedback from Students

In the field of teaching, students heavily depend on you in various areas in and out of the classroom. As an aspiring nursing tutor, I have to come up with unique teaching skills that create a balance in class. For instance, students have different levels of IQ; as a teacher, I will be required to ensure that no student is left behind while teaching. Therefore, I will be required to implement different objectives in my teaching skills. One, I will be required to teach mentorship and leadership skills to my students that will help them in their nursing field. Leadership skills play a vital role in shaping the behavior and attitude of a student in and of class. For instance, a nurse is required to possess leadership skills that will help in being accountable for his actions. Two, teamwork, helps in building stronger ties among students as a way of opening up about their strengths and weaknesses in a particular field (Koutoukidis, Funnell, Lawrence, Stainton, & Hughson, 2008). As a nursing educator, I will form study groups in my class, where students can brainstorm and share ideas on a specific area. Three, monitoring the academic performance of students, as a nursing educator, this will give me an edge in identifying their strengths and weaknesses. This will help in building stronger ties with my students and help them in improving their performance. Students prefer having a teacher who is concerned about their education, health, and performance in and out of class. Therefore, as a nursing educator, I will be required to create an environment where students can express their feelings without the fear of being judged.

Comparison of preceptor feedback and student feedback

As a nursing educator, I prefer lecturing my students as a way of helping me in meeting my objectives. The field of nursing is vast, lecturing and practicals are required to be done by students in the laboratory. Therefore, in lecturing, I will prefer a projector as a way of displaying content visually by using images and videos. Scholars say that information in power. As a nursing education, I will be required to research in different fields as a way of ensuring that my students receive first-hand knowledge (Bastable, Gramet, Jacobs, & Sopczyk, 2011). Also, I will create a friendly learning environment where students are allowed to ask questions when they do not understand a particular idea. This will help in building stronger ties with my students in the classroom. Also, as a way of testing their intelligence, I will be required to give them assignments and cats after the end of each unit. This will help my students in understanding concepts faster and improve their performance in class.

Reflective teaching practice

The nursing industry is changing; as a nursing tutor, I will be required to lecture my student’s currents trends in the health sector. This will give them an edge in the job market industry, where employers are looking for nurses equipped with the necessary skills. However, a lot of funding is required in nursing learning institutions. For increase, with the increased use of technology in hospitals, colleges do not have enough funds to purchase modern medical equipment. The government should create a platform where students can work in healthcare centers equipped with advanced equipment while in college. This will help them to adapt quickly to modern trends in the healthcare sector.
