Introduction

It is with great honor to the government, well-wishers and all the involved parties who have worked tirelessly towards making sure there are facilities such as libraries available to the public (Williment, 2019). Toronto libraries are designed strategically to ensure all the members are accommodated and they can feel the value of the facility (Bryson, 2017). Scheduling becomes effective for both the staff and the public to have accommodative work ethics. Physically challenged individuals are catered for since there are wheelchair accessibility amenities.

Safety

From a sad perspective, traffic and access to the public facilities have been allowed and there are no limits (Ly, 2018). This compromises the security of the premises. In terrorist prone regions, bearing in mind that libraries can host a huge population at a given time, this could be a target by terrorists. The fact that there is much traffic, personal properties are put in line if the owner is not vigilant (Ly, 2018). Cyberbullying and crime are way more rampant in public libraries because everyone is focused on what brought them in the facility. Without strict supervision such as monitoring movements of people in and out of the facility, security cannot be guaranteed. This can be realized by designing and implementing uncompromising authentication security models, installation of surveillance cameras plus controlling what happens in the computers. Through such measures, security issues can be handled comprehensively (Ly, 2018).

Lack of facilities

Libraries in Canada have also experienced a common problem which is; there is only one snacks outlet that is located on the ground floor. Toronto library is designed in a way where there are lockers and a cloakroom to ensure the reading materials and private materials are kept when engaging in different activities other than reading (Ly, 2018). Catering has been designed to take place only on the ground floor. This has been made so to ensure the rest of the floors remain for studies. It is also notable that there are benches to enjoy snacks from the ground floor (Ly, 2018). Congestion is a common phenomenon where some members of the public using the facility end up not having a taste of snack or beverages offered hence, they are prompted to walk outside the facility in pursuit of the same. This inadequacy makes members of the public waste considerable amounts of time in such of refreshments and snacks. It would be a great idea to have the catering department segmented into several parts just to take dispense foods from different angles (Ly, 2018).

Private room shortage

Another notable problem is that public libraries in Canada have not invested sufficiently in private rooms (Ly, 2018). Due to the traffic plus the uncontrollable movements of people around the library, there is a need to having private rooms that can be used for solitary or group studies (Ly, 2018). The private rooms despite being allocated two hours for each group or person who wishes to have the services, the rooms still are not many enough to quench the knowledge thirsty people. Some shelves stand idle in one of the floors whereas the management can consider doing away with the shelves and designing private rooms within the floor (Ly, 2018).

Conclusion

There is a multilingual collection in the Toronto public libraries which translates that it has been having a worthwhile success rate towards the needs of the society. Despite being the largest library in Canada, there are some notable demerits in that they lack language collections despite housing several distinct lingoes (Bryson, 2017). This consequently prompts the library management to keep in touch with the ongoing statistics on population for them to respond to the diverse changes of the communities.
