I have always known City governments as the authorities that play critical roles in building a coherent community that is all rounded. In reality, the services it renders to the people often revitalize the low-income earners, support research groups as well as being the primary source of information to the governing authority as such working within the city government provides myriads of benefits rather than working from the outside. Ideally, this is one of my major motivating factors for working inside the City Government. I believe that working within the city government will expose me to the challenges that emanate as a result of working in an extremely challenging environment, and which will be critical in my future professional development. My ability to overcome such challenges will be a crucial point of learning to prepare myself for the task ahead. On the other hand, working outside the city government does not provide an individual the direct and immediate contact and experience with the challenges, issues and ideas that emanate from within.
In terms of policy analysis, the City government underscores high on the index, many a time, and the officials ensure that a program is conducted and seen to the latter stages. Altogether, policy analysis is systematically done, resulting in picking a policy option that is best for the situation at hand. From experience, city and regional officials are faced with several challenges in terms of demanding deadlines coupled with limited resources. It is in this course that I feel my input in addressing the time gap between policy analyses. My expertise, therefore, brings an additional view of looking at a means to bridge the difference between the time taken in analyzing a problem and actualizing a fact-finding through intent analysis of data at hand. In the past, I have researched information concerning city government, and almost the entire tenet I found convinced me how it is a great course to practice within the city government. Firstly, during program fact-finding, an exemplary if an excellent organization and negotiating skills are highly considered. Creativity and leadership are upheld and demonstrated at all levels, a reason that makes me yearn to work in the city government.
Working in a city government requires an all-rounded, dedicated, and up-to, task individual. In the past, I have endeavored to demonstrate various strengths and skills that are considered ideal for policy analysis. I can demonstrate excellent communication skills. Notably, communication skills entail listening, speaking, and writing. These are the essential tools of trade employed in the growth of an organization. The ideal quality of an employee must be listening, speaking, and writing to manage accurate data effectively. Besides, analytical and research skills are far essential within and without an institution. In the course of my learning, I have learned to analyze different approaches available to achieve set goals to meet the organization's vision. In addition to possessing strong research skills, flexibility, and adaptability present a higher notch of becoming an asset to any organization. I can adapt from one working environment to the next as well as from one assignment to the other. Adaptability demonstrates that an individual is committed to the organization and always influences its progress.
Apart from adaptability, interpersonal ability is integral in the realization of set objectives. As a trainer, I have learned to build a relationship with people around as well as being a source of inspiration to them. This entails carrying out oneself with decorum observing work ethics and showing everybody that they are worth it. Maintaining a good relationship fosters seamless, maximum achievement within and without the organization. Finally, possessing the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work is an added advantage to complete personnel. Understandably, it is essential to plan and organize before deciding on what to start with or complete. In a proactive organization, one is required to be able to plan before executing an assignment.
Apart from strengths, different skills are a stepping stone to maximizing achievements within an organization. Notably, these skills often propel not only the organization's reputation but also singles out an employee's worthwhile. They include but not limited to self-confidence. Being assertive in decision making is opined as self-confidence. I possess this skill and do believe it is essential in times of making a confident decision that affects both human resources and the organization within the City government where I desire to work. Creativity at all levels is another skill that is needed when making a decision. Over time, I have learned to present the idea in a creative way to suit all the levels of employees and employers within the organization. In addition to creativity, paying attention to ethics and integrity within the city government's working environment will for a critical core of my activity. It essential to uphold the integrity of the organization as well as underscoring ethical behaviors within and without the organization; as a worker within the civil service pathway, I endeavor to uphold moral work values as well as observing creativity at all times.
I believe that there are various important steps that I can undertake in order gain the most from my experience and benefit maximally as a fellow at a City Agency Unit. Firstly, I will have to bringing the working world to life. I believe that working at the City Agency will enable me know how people work together, and how things get done differently from the school and college. This will also be an opportunity for me to imagine whether or not the fellowship will suit me and the training needed to excel from it.
I must improve my employability in order to maximally benefit from the fellowship program. I believe that improving my employability skills will be critical in giving me something to put on my resume as well as in other job applications. Gaining more benefit from the experience on my part would also imply knowing the right kind of organizations that would employ me after the fellowship as well as the kind of the skill set they require. Following the correct training plan during the fellowship will be critical for me as it will allow understand every concept related to working in the City Agency, the expectations during the fellowship programs and after the completion.
I desire to possess strong research skills, flexibility, and adaptability, which will present a higher notch of becoming an asset to the organizations which I will be working for in future. I will also learn to build a relationship with people around as well as being a source of inspiration to other people.
