Introduction
Fee for service refers to the traditional method of payment for services regarding health care in the United States. This structure permits providers as well as physicals to obtain payment from government agencies, insurance companies, other third-party offers, as well as people based on the services, they provide to a patient who is seeking care. Furthermore, it applies to the figure of procedures ordered by the patients (Malet-Larrea et al., 2017). This review aims at evaluating the advantages of fees for service to health care.
The purpose of this literature review is to discuss the benefits of health care is likely to get from fee for services. According to some researchers, free for service is flexible since it allows one to access any medical provider without first seeking plan approval (Gupta et al., 2017). Besides, it has low premiums, and it has a low cost due to coordinated care.
Method
To analyze the fee for service benefits, two different hospitals and six participants were used. The participants were patients from these two hospitals, and three were male while the rest were female. In both hospitals, one was providing traditional services while the other was using modern facilities. The participants were asked to follow the whole procedure in each hospital until when they will receive the treatment and compare the cost as well as time spent in each hospital and the services offered.
Results
After the procedure was followed keenly by all the patients, it was noted that the hospital that was providing fee for services was convenient, time-saving, and cheap. Many of them preferred this method to the modern system since it was not complicated, and it was easy to get treatment.
Discussion
The fee for the service method is cost-effective since the hospital had created a plan to respond to patients' fluctuations (Goss et al., 2019). The patient had an opportunity to choose whether to visit network providers and make a trivial co-payment, or omit network and have about 60% - 70% of the cost reimbursed (Goss et al., 2019). It was also noted the fee for service had low premiums since fewer employees provide its plans due to their expenses. Finally, there was flexibility since the patient could receive medical services from any hospital, even without seeking approval for the program.
