Introduction

Bullying is one of the most common and most frequent forms of school violence. Bullying is defined as a form of aggressive behavior where an individual repeatedly and intentionally cause injury or discomfort to another person. Bullying takes different forms which can include words, contact, physical, and subtle actions. Primarily, the individual who is being bullied has some trouble in defensing him or herself and does nothing to facilitate the bullying act. People who bully others often see themselves as more masculine and stronger while the person being bullied is seen as smaller, young, weaker or vulnerable. Moreover, bullies are made not born and it is the responsibility of the parent to make sure that aggression of the children is closely monitored and regulated at an early stage to avoid and future adverse behaviors. One in every four students across the globe has at one point being bullied.

Bullying has become a global problem as it has become a common behavior among children and young adolescents. Despite educational institutions implementing anti bully programs and rule or laws withing their territory this practice has been growing exponentially over the past few years. In most schools bullying is the main problem affecting most schools which puts the rest of the institution and students at risk. Therefore, bullying can occur when there is a different in size and powers between the victim and the bully. This mainly occur when the victim is unable to defend him or herself against the bullying behavior. Primarily, the bullying behavior include aspects such as face to face confrontation such as damaging kicking and hitting among other physical harm. Other bullying behaviors might include indirect involving a third party on social exclusion, spreading rumors, and other types if psychological harm or cyberbullying.

Electronic Aggression: The Rise of Cyberbullying in the Digital Age

There is new emerging type of bulling that is being referred to as electronic aggression. This type of bullying through electronic media is becoming an important concern as there is an increasing virtual interaction between children and adolescents. Primarily, this type of bullying is referred to as aggressive online behavior in the digital space and it is defined as aggressive behavior of using technology though social media and cell phones. Most of the online behaviors are conducted through chat rooms, emails, testing, instant messaging, and websites. This type of bulling is far different from other traditional types of bullying as the school administrators and staff cannot control it as it happens outside their jurisdiction. This type of bulling and the traditional bullying have similar consequences.

Bullying is the most common type of violence among children and adolescent in schools. It has become a recognized problem for students as it has become a global issue and public health concern. From a survey done in 2016 it indicated that 20% of the student reported being bullied at school.
