Vivid Description of Characters and Materialistic Lifestyle

The first paragraph describes the two main characters; Elizabeth and Melissa. It tells that they are both aged 20 and have been brought up well. They are now in college and are in their room dressed up in expensive night-gowns they bought from a fashion store at the mall. The vivid description gives a hint that two girls are probably spendthrifts as college students are known to be. They try to maintain an expensive materialistic lifestyle that may leave them in massive debt since they have little income to sustain it.

The Magic Ball as an Inanimate Character

The Magic Ball is a third inanimate character as a hollow, plastic sphere that looks like an oversized black and white 8-ball that is 500 times the size of a standard ball (pool table ball). The play is acted out in the Brick Theatre and was composed of the Tiny Theatre Festival. To show that oral literature is celebrated as art just like music during music festivals.

Raunchy Photos and Moral Decadence

The next page describes the two young girls taking some raunchy photos with their smartphones. Chances are, they are trying to impress or get validation someone, probably their lovers (James and Bradley). It also pictures a problem with the current generation of moral decadence. Young people of today do not hesitate to dress immodestly or, worse, expose their bodies to get validation from others. If someone dresses conservatively, they are considered funny or weird. For both men and women, getting attention makes them feel valuable or attractive. The adage, 'Beauty most desired, is beauty concealed' does not apply.

The examples of vivid descriptions are few, but they present a few but significant issues that ravage humanity. For example, the mention of smartphones being used to do some questionable behaviors like; taking revealing pictures to entice others. The mobile phone, an invention By Alexander Graham is no doubt among the best devices to ever enter man's life. Unfortunately, it has brought with it; loss of moral values and meaning of life.

Self-Worth and the Need for Validation

People think they need to dress a certain way no matter how inappropriate just to get likes and followers on their social media. Their self-worth depends on the number of followers and likes. At the cost of dignity and self-respect, things that no amount of validation from people can match. Wholeness comes from self-esteem and self-acceptance. One does not have to use their body to get attention. Instead, why not do something more productive?? Like plant a tree or start a charity foundation or a campaign against wrongful use of social media (cyberbullying, immorality, defamation, etc.)

Money is arguably the 2nd most wasted resource after Time. People buy things to feel complete or valuable. And they don't pay attention to the kinds of friends they have. Looking at Elizabeth and Melissa spend money to buy high-end clothes to amuse themselves and impress their lovers, with some level of indecency. Neither one of them gives the other a reality check of what brought them to college.

A vivid description of two people headed the wrong way. It might seem like the perfect friendship, but it is not adding value to either one of them. In the end, two college graduates with; regrets, mounting debts, and no stable income to service them. Young people must be trained on how to manage finances and social circles-critical ingredients for a successful future.

Conclusion

Vivid description, to reiterate, is a valuable tool in literature. It is what creates depth and gives meaning to a play or piece that would otherwise look bland or shallow. To the keen eye and a mind that reads in between the lines, a sentence can highlight the bigger picture on an issue affecting humanity. Literary devices should thus be given their due appreciation.
