"Condemnation of the Duke" Is "The Least Interesting Response" in "My Last Duchess"

Introduction

Robert Langbaum's literal claims of Browning's "My Last Duchess" that "Condemnation of Duke" is the least exciting response is somehow manifested in the poem. Regarding to the same, there is a noticeable contrast that shows much stress on the portrait of his dead wife other than his feeling about the same. The poem does not show much response to on the Duke as much of it; it is a monologue contemplation that he is trying to rethink and also engage the reader in asking questions about his condemnation actions.

Duke seems to entertain his visitors who come to his palace for marriage negotiation. However, Duke seems not to involve them in the purposes of the visit. Duke stops at the portrait of the late wife Duchess, and he starts to talk of her. Duke seems to respond to visitors through contemplation of his late wife, and this round he has to pass his concerns and more character that he wants to marry by talking of his late wife. His respond is indirect in addressing the visitors who have come to negotiate for marriage. Duke seems to address his late wife negatively. He argues that she used to hand out with everyone. At this point, Duke is was not supposed to let out his pains over his late wife, Duchess. In the case, Duke behaves in that way to express what kind of wife he wants and that the visitors should deliver or instead convey the information to the lady in marriage negotiations (Browning, 2019).

Despite all what Duke had gone through in his past marriage, he was not supposed to declare the weakness of his late Duchess. Instead, he would have welcomed his visitors. Then try to elaborate on the nature of his late wife in an attractive way that does not take him as an insane gent. The monologue and unwelcoming way to his visitor, implied great torments on his life, thus creating suspicious over his soberness. Duke would have also have created a positive impression on his revelation rather than exposing the demise cause of his late wife. Instead, he would have acknowledged great love he had on Duchess (Browning, 2019).

Theorem to the Progression of Lines in Casabianca Poem

From the poem Casablanca, the line, "love's the boy stood on the burning deck /trying to recite, 'The boy stood on the burning deck.'" Is an impression on which a poet want to critical situation that exists in us but still we watch it over the others. The high expression of the love mesmerizes the speaker of the poem by the danger that awaits her son. It is from the inner vision that a poet exposes to show how much how sons are presented to the high hazards of life, yet they remain exposed to them. "Trying to recite" is a statement that shows how heavy and sensitive it is to the sons and daughter in the exposure of this harsh life. The report, "The boy stood on the burning deck." Is a clear insight into the dangers young generation immerse themselves into or even plights they stand on. The line, therefore, is a contemplation of risks that youth generations are exposed to and yet despite the love for them or determination to save them, they still get into dangers (Casabianca - Poetry Society of America, 2019).

Similarly, Casabianca (2019), the last line of the poem, "And love's the burning boy," is an indication that the young generation continues to suffer despite trying to liberate them from the torments they are exposed to. The parent still shows their love for young ones despite their character or even their moral behavior; thus, they stand to help and care for them. Also, the last line of the poem shows the magnificent affectionate that parent carries with them on their children. It is a signal sent to children advising them that they should try to liberate themselves and reduces the psychological torture on the parents who indeed loves them dearly. From the poem context, it is clear that each person has the mandate to save himself from the wrath of the world despite the love they have for each other (Casabianca - Poetry Society of America, 2019).

Identification of Speaker's Character More Than Poet's Voice

In "The road not taken" poem, is a literary composition that the poet has tried to express his feelings in link to the choice he made in the past. He uses symbolism to express his views. In the process to deliver the message of choice, we make daily, and their impacts, the speaker's character sounds more than the voice poet. Through the process of choosing which way of life to follow, the speaker seems to be so confused and looks down to rethink of the decision to make (Frost, 2019).

Through decision making on which road to take is a clear impression that the speaker in the poem can weigh the options he or she has in life and therefore ends up making the right direction of life. By him choosing to take a grassy way, it meant that the idea or the life decision had not been explored and therefore would lead him or her to success. In the context, the poet's voice does not portray his character rather it expresses the speaker's character

In the third stanza of the poem, the expression on decision making and revisit is stressed whereby the speaker realizes that he cannot change decisions once done in life; instead, he should keep moving. The voice of the poet only lays the outlook of the situation after the decision is made in life. The impact of the decision may be negative, but still, that may only lead in making another decision to rectify the past one (Frost, 2019).

Finally, the speaker's decision and divergence is felt when he gets to another level of life. On the point, he chooses another way of life that would lead to better living. However, the character portrayed by the speaker seems to narrow down on the wellbeing of his life, and precisely he has to be analytical of what path to take in life. His character, therefore, is overwhelmed by the good life he wants. The poet's voice is consequently minimal as the speaker seem more explicit on his decision making.

Comparison Illumination on Two Different Poems in Poetry Literature

In regards to William Shakespeare, "Sonnet18" and Robert Burns, "A Red, Red Rose" poetry, the comparison will be drawn and poetry styles as well as interpretation to each poem. The two poems have imagery created prose of love. They both try to show the great extent in love world.

Sonnet 18 provides a clear impression of how traditional love and natural beauty can be sustained. The use of the summer day is a symbolic impression to express or reveal how the lover is lovely and adorable to the speaker. Sonnet18 uses imagery and symbolism to show its great message of love in the traditional context (Shakespeare, 2019). On the other hand, "A Red, Red Rose" is a poem that explores a love phenomenon. The poet tries to express sincere love of the speaker through imagery and symbolism. The poem uses metaphors of natural objects to draw the readers closer and represent the ideals of love.

From both poems, there is the use of literary devices such as symbolism, alliteration, hyperbole or exaggeration and imagery. For instance, the use of 'Rose' in the "A Red, Red Rose" poem, is symbolic as it implies love (Burns, 2019). Similarly, assonance and repetition are literature styles experienced in Sonnet 18 poem, which includes words like shake and may as well as nature and course (Shakespear, 2019). The rhythm of both poems seem to follow a particular order; for instance, in Sonnet 18, there are consonance and alliteration that creates typical sound to build the rhythm of the poems.
