Introduction
The first scenario takes into account my disability of being epileptic, where I developed seizures. A seizure is described as a central nervous system or neurological disorder where the brain capacity develops abnormal state, leading to periods or unusual sensations, behaviors, and in other cases, loss of awareness. The onset of the condition came when I experienced pass out while working at a patient room as a nurse. The diagnosis results revealed I had Epilepsy seizure, and the doctor prescribed some medications to be taken, however. Other incidents of Seizures followed, and this meant I would continue taking medication for the rest of my life. However, this was made by the fact that I became pregnant under the same conditions where I became scared of losing my baby. I underwent various medical treatments and scans, such as MRIs, among other scans. The stressor and what caused the stress, in this case, is the condition of the sickness and the fact that I was pregnant in the same situation.
Some of the symptoms include little headache pain, confusion, or expressions of funny behavior. I was scared about what would happen to me in the presence of my daughter. The stress made me be confused and sometimes have some headaches or become afraid of the people. To avoid the impact of my disorder to my daughter, I would ensure that I followed the prescription for medication, get enough sleep, avoid thinking too much, and also ensuring that I rest my body. The most appropriate coping mechanisms with the above conditions would have been regular consultation and visiting the doctor for proper guidelines concerning my situation. I would also keep away from crowded places.
Dad Stress
The second scenario is concerned about the death of my dad and the effects it had on me. The impact of his death was devastating since he was very close to the family members and me. In this case, the stressor is my father's death. The cause of the stress is the fact that the end was not anticipated, and he was also entirely depended on by the family members at large and me. I would share anything with dad more than mum. The death of the dad led to severe impacts on me, including a feeling of sadness, depression as well as a lot of anxiety. The demise of a family member of a dad's title can be stressful and contribute to a lot of pain on the affected individual.
Additionally, I was also pregnant, and I had banked on my father for any help regarding my pregnancy. Because of the above, I felt empty and lonely at the same time due to a lack of his presence. We had a strong bond with dad and life would seem meaningless without him since he would help in almost everything. His death reminds me of how important dad was in my life as I was free with him to the extent of sharing everything compared to how I would do with mom. The coping mechanisms that were used to deal with the stress include getting busy all the time through such things as playing or carrying out house chores; however, hard it is to keep the situation out of mind. I would play with my daughter to address the stressor, perform housework, try watching TV, interact with family members, or pray. All the above have helped forget the demise of dad, although it is challenging to completely forget the impact and to ensure that I adjusted to life without him.
The coping mechanism that could be used in this situation includes considering the death of dad as a personal growth, where one seeks to better themselves. Sometimes avoidance of the incident can help where the victim does not discuss it over and over with other people such as friends or family members.
