One of the advantages of having fast food in the hospital is that it adds additional revenue to the hospital. The income can be used to improve services at the hospital. Furthermore, the hospital staff can also have their meals within the hospital premises, which is a plus in case of an emergency. On the other hand, some of its demerits include; it will seem like the institution is promoting unhealthy living. Most diseases are caused by unhealthy eating. As such, it is a concern to the hospital. As an administrator, the wrong image of fast foods can be changed by ensuring the eateries serve healthy foods in their establishment. The fast-food company can also be forced to improve the nutritional quality of food that is being served. One condition is also to test the foods and look at the menu before being given the leeway to operate in the hospital. Sugary drinks and fatty foods can be banned from being sold in the premises.
The stark laws entail a law set out to prevent physicians from referring patients to hospitals where they have a financial relationship (Collins, Clark & George, 2018). It means that the physician has a financial interest in the institution. I would firstly not accept the consultancy fee as that makes me an accomplice. To prevent the institution from any penalties resulting from the conduct of the employee are report the incident to the hospital management who will then alert the relevant authorities e.g., department of justice. The physician should return all the money he received from the referrals plus a penalty to deter such behaviors in the future.
Part II
The core activities of a hospital administrator are crucial for its success as they ensure the day to day operations run smoothly and effectively. It provides the physicians to have ample time to attend to patients hence enhancing service delivery. They do not have to worry themselves if there is the availability of resources to run the hospital as that's the administrator's purview.
The use of technology in the hospital is paramount either for administrative or clinical purposes. Their main objective is to improve the service delivery to the clients while aiding the physicians in carrying out their daily routines. By the click of a button, a doctor can have a patient medical history, and an administrator can quickly know which drugs are missing and need to be purchased.
How food operations are handled in the health care industry matters a lot. A minor mistake can lead to the loss of life and the institution being taken to court for damages. As such, those who handle the food must maintain a high standard of hygiene. A thorough test should be carried on the employees to ensure they do not pass any ailments to the already sick people. Some patients are allergic to some foods, and all that should be considered.
Health care operations, either internal or external, are crucial for the effective management of a hospital. Without advertisement, the public can't know the kind of services the hospital offers. A hospital provides goods and services to patients, and the patients expect the best service always. Consequently, a hospital should strive to improve its service to accommodate the ever-changing needs of its customers. If not well managed, the cost of running the hospital will be too much compared to the revenue it collects.
