Situation
The project involves offering elderly care services by using nursing homes, long-term care, and adult day care at Bakersfield City, California would ensure that the population of people above 65 years old increases tremendously. Predictions by the States Department of Health and Human Services stated that there could be a total of 72 million population of people aged above 65 by 2030 (Wroe et al., 2012). The target population is the elderly care center supervisors, employees, and senior citizens who are working at the center. Senior families are also part of this program within the territory of Bakersfield city because they constitute the overall elderly population.
Background
The health status for most senior citizens to deteriorate as they age due to several factors that could be categorized as social, economic, physical, mental, or psychological (Mozley, 2017). Perhaps, the population is quite susceptible to these illnesses because the immune systems of the elderly always diminish and so their health status is left so vulnerable, and exposed to many infections. It is these infections that eventually lead to most deaths of the elderly population, thus the lower figure at the current times (Harman, 1991).
However, Gemba walk provides assertations that more healthcare strategies are already put in place to facilitate and boost the immune systems of the elderly, to attain the expected population by 2030.
Assessment
The fundamental goal of this initiative is to ensure that all diseases that attack the elderly population are tested in time and measures taken to counteract their effects. An elderly care center has been made to accommodate more elders in need. studies have proved that offering high quality and effective care to the aged in a central location makes the senior citizens happy, and thus, they develop resistance to many disorders. Evaluations have also been made in the Bakersfield city to determine the actual number of elderly health centers. This would allow clinicians and health professionals to actualize whether, the lower statistical results of adults facing challenges within the city is due to less admission, or provision of advanced quality healthcare to the senior citizens.
A review of the ages for employees who are serving the senior citizens has also been initiated, ensuring that the citizens are not affected by their employees, who ought to provide them with care plans. moreover, Facilities have been put in place to initiate the process of offering improved healthcare to the elderly population, based on the analysis of the collected data. An example of such a facility includes the implementation of digital infrastructure to improve the quality of care. The supervisor and employer have also requested for a team-building project and a potential local consultant, both of which will help in addressing emergency operations and reducing the occurrences of preventable death cases.
Recommendation
As the number of elderly populations in targeted at an average of 72 million by 2030, Bakersfield city is not an exclusion; thus, more elderly health service providers should be added to manage the rising number if a steady rate of increment is to be realized.
A team of local consultants and clinicians who are offering care to the patients must be professionals and have academic knowledge and field skills to manage all the new elderly service centers.
While putting more effort into the senior citizens, senior employees and supervisors must not be excluded because, like other aged populations, they are equally vulnerable to such threats of contacting minor diseases that can trigger to cause serious chronic or brain disorder, if early identification and treatment or diagnosis fail.
The supervisors of the Gemba project should ensure that the team building activity is accurately done so that all employees and stakeholders and interconnected to deliver one common goal of protecting the elderly population.
