If abortion laws in the united states are repealed and abortion is made legal, there would be good and bad consequences. In most cases, the consequences are worse than good. First one could suffer some complications like infections since maybe the tools used to procure the abortion were not sterilized. This can be very dangerous but if the symptoms are discovered early it can be treated with antibiotics. In 60% of abortion cases the woman ends up damaging the womb and this means that she can never conceive. The most permanent consequence that women who go through abortions are that they are most likely to suffer permanent or temporary phycological damage. Unlike the many bad consequences of procuring an abortion, there are also good ones; but they are just a few. First abortion is highly considered in cases where the fetus and mother are at risk. In cases where the mother's health is deteriorating the doctors have no option but to terminate the pregnancy and this mostly happens in the first trimester; that is 8-12 weeks of pregnancy. Another case is when the doctors find that the fetus is not growing as it should be, meaning if it is physically deformed. The good consequences would never overweigh the bad. This is because it much more dangerous for any woman to go through an abortion especially if it concerns her health and welfare, and hence should not be legalized.
A fetus is a person. The only difference that it is not fully developed. The mothers' womb acts as a haven for the developing fetus. (Sonfield, 2011). It starts as a tiny dot-like object but when natured, it slowly becomes a healthy baby. And as early as 8 weeks one can feel the heartbeat.
Once a woman gets pregnant, everything she does solely depends on the growth and safety of the baby. So, she loses the right to her own body the moment she gets pregnant. She has to act right, eat right, quit all the bad habits she had like smoking, taking alcohol. She has to quit all drug substances for the sake of her baby.
I think it is ethical for Anthony to deny reimbursement for the cost of abortions in women who have health insurance with his company since most women nowadays tend to go for abortion especially if it is unwanted. (Robinson, 2001). Abortion should be an option in cases where the doctor advises; relating to health issues on the mother and baby.
If I was Jenna and found out that Anthony was denying women with insurance reimbursement, I would go along with it unless it is in severe cases like health risks in both mother and fetus. That is the only justifies case where there should be reimbursement.
Health insurance companies should not be obligated to cover the cost of abortions for women who receive their insurance through their employees unless the doctor says otherwise. (Blanchard,2013). A letter should be sent to the insurance company; written by the doctor concerning the patients' health status
I highly think that Medicaid should pay for any woman's' abortion whether they have or don't have private health insurance as long as the doctor advises. Since there might be a case of emergency abortion and the woman does not have private health insurance and if they are not able to pay, it could affect them. Or if the procedure is delayed, the mother could die. So I think they should weigh on the options.
