I write this letter on behalf of my patient, who is a 49-year-old man diagnosed with lung cancer. He has been undergoing treatment for three years. The patient's finances have depleted, and he has not recovered. He is considering medical marijuana has the next treatment option, and as his doctor, I believe that this will have significant effects on improving his health. The patient has been experiencing severe pain, nausea, and vomiting, loss of appetite, growth of tumors, as well as nerve damage caused by chemotherapy and other treatments that he has undergone. I strongly believe that marijuana will be effective in alleviating these problems. I, therefore, write requesting you to consider helping improve the health of the patient by covering his medical marijuana expenses.

The patient needs financial support to be able to access marijuana medication. I had recommended medical marijuana because of the complications encountered when the patient was being treated. Among the complications that the patient is suffering from, including the side effects of chemotherapy, I recommend medical marijuana to help the patient in dealing with neuropathy, where the nerves have been damaged during chemotherapy that the patient undergoes in treatment (Mack & Joy, 2019). Medical marijuana is also a good medication that helps patients cope with the pain that they experience during chemotherapy. Other pain killers used to relieve pain are not effective when handling the pain that emerges from chemotherapy services. I urge you to offer a medical cover that will help the patient get the treatment he requires in his journey to healing from the deadly lung cancer disease.

Marijuana is an effective Anti-neoplastic which helps in slowing down tumor growth (Kim, 2020). The tumors have been recurring, and the only option that I am left with in alleviating them is the use of marijuana. Additionally, my patient has lost appetite, which has subsequently led to weight loss. Marijuana can be used in boosting appetite and make the patient strong and fight the disease. This medication will promote the effectiveness of other treatment options. Covering the costs of medical marijuana will also be beneficial to you by attracting customers who believe that medical marijuana is an option for treating cancer.

Many patients experience symptoms such as severe pain, nausea, and vomiting, as well as the loss of appetite caused by cancer treatments (Kim, 2020). These symptoms have degraded my patient's quality of life, and your financial intervention is the most valuable thing he needs. This move will be beneficial both to my patient and other patients who are suffering as their insurance does not cover medical marijuana. Covering the costs of this medication will significantly help in ensuring that only patients who have a recommendation from the doctor use marijuana for medical purposes.

Medical Cannabis is approved by the Food and Drugs Act (FDA), which has established that the ingredients in marijuana drugs are safe (Kim, 2020). My patient comes from California, where medical marijuana is legalized and decriminalized. Therefore, paying for medical marijuana costs will help improve patient care and create a data registry that will be used in research.

The patient requires financial support to complete the medication he has been getting in regard to cancer treatment. The patient is in the middle of the treatment journey; he only needs financial support to complete his journey of lung cancer treatment (Mack & Joy, 2019). The patient has shown courage and commitment in the fight against lung cancer, and therefore financial support to help the patient get medical marijuana treatment will facilitate the patient to recover fully from the disease. I urge the insurance company to support the patient by covering the costs of medical marijuana and give the healthcare providers the opportunity to complete the medication provided to the patient.

The patient faces the risk of losing all the achievements made in lung cancer treatment because the disease has the potential to re-emerge if the patient does not complete the medication he has been getting by allowing the doctors to use medical marijuana (Mack & Joy, 2019). Data shows that patients who stop their medication cancer re-emerges, and the patients end up losing their lives to the disease (Mack & Joy, 2019). Supporting the patient financially will help the patient complete their treatment that they require and avoid the disease from lung cancer re-emerging because of a lack of medication.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I would request the insurance company to consider providing medical insurance cover to the patient to help him meet the financial needs that he requires. The patient has spent all the resources he had, living him with no money to facilitate the treatment using medical marijuana. Medical marijuana is an effective drug that is used to treat the complications and challenges that emerge when patients are treated with cancer, such as through chemotherapy, which has several side effects.
