Introduction
The evidence-based nursing practice (EBNP) models and the steps in the development of the significant changes in the EBNP form the two new pieces of information from the week’s reading and lectures. Under the EBNP models, the Stetler Model and the ACE Star Model presented new and exciting concepts applicable in the nursing practice (Bedford et al., 2017). Research and development in the nursing practice as well as in health, in general, makes the discipline highly fluid. The eruption of different new health challenges necessitates significant developments in the EBNP. With this in mind, understanding the ten essential steps for creating the changes required in the EBNP is vital for an APN. Therefore, the two models and the ten steps form the most important take-home from the week’s readings and lectures.
The essential phases of the Stetler Model are critically vital for an APN. Application of critical and creative thinking in this EBNP model enables nurses to develop new problem-solving techniques and approach problems affecting patients differently (DeNisco, 2019). The model uses systematic research to improve and integrate clinical expertise making it highly effective in the identification of the challenges that the APN nurses face. APN nurses can apply the model to understand new problems affecting the patients and develop the best way to handle these challenges. The model provides room for analysis, comparativeness, translation and evaluation of the findings in a cost-sensitive approach.
Just like the Stetler Model, knowledge transformation is critical in the ACE Star Model. The model provides an excellent opportunity for converting the research data and findings into meaningful and applicable data sets and processes and procedures (Hall & Roussel, 2016). The essential area of the model is the five-stages phases that an APN can apply when learning and developing a new approach to problem-solving. The two models are critically necessary for the transformation of the nursing practice. The ten steps in the development of the EBNP helps in identification of the challenges in any model and implement the areas of the nursing practice (Barajas, 2019). The new information on the creation of the changes in the EBNP is essential when determining the best approach to deal with issues in the nursing practice.
