In Qatar, the situation of COVID-19 is alarming. Thirteen thousand six hundred eighty-one people have been tested, 549 are positive with COVID-19, 12 cases were reported in the last 24 hours, and 43 people have recovered from the disease (Ministry of Public Health, 2020). The government has taken measures to stop the spread of COVID-19 in Qatar. Temporary travel restrictions have been placed on specific countries, including European nations, Italy, Germany, Spain, and France (Government Communications Office, 2020). The government requires people traveling from these nations to be isolated for fourteen days. All citizens have been urged to avoid travels during the COVID-19 pandemic.

New precautionary measures have been taken to safeguard the public health and well-being, including the closure of all public and crowded places such as theatres, gyms, cinemas, wedding venues, and children play arenas (Government Communications Office, 2020). Being in a critical stage of COVID-19, no more social gatherings are allowed for all citizens and residents of Qatar. Citizens are encouraged to wash their hands often, use hand sanitizers frequently, and keeping a distance of one to three meters from one another. People can access the COVID-19 contact center at the MOPH anytime for inquiries using the toll-free phone number 16000 (Government Communications Office, 2020). For students, public and private schools, colleges and universities have been suspended until further notice. It will ensure the safety of the students and contain the spread of COVID-19 (Government Communications Office, 2020).

There are international steps to follow in preventing further spread of COVID-19. Closure of schools, cancellation of sports events, country lockdown, and people to stay at home are safety measures to prevent further spread of the disease (WHO, 2020). Nations are urged to expand, train as well as deploy healthcare and public health workers, and execute a system that finds all the suspected cases of COVID-19 at the community level. Internationally, countries should increase the manufacture, ability, and availability of testing, identifying, adapting, and equipping facilities for use in treating as well as isolating COVID-19 patients. A transparent process and plan to quarantine suspects should be provided, and the government should refocus on the suppression and control of COVID-19.
