Introduction
It is important to note that coronavirus consists of a family of viruses capable of causing respiratory diseases such as severe acute respiratory syndrome, common cold, and even Middle East respiratory syndrome (Napoli and Matteo 1138). In late 2019, a new type of coronavirus was established as the leading cause of the disease outbreak from Wuhan City in China. Studies revealed that the virus was called the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, and the disease it causes is known as coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) (Napoli and Matteo 1138). As a result of its quick worldwide spread, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared it a global pandemic. This paper seeks to study what coronavirus is and how human beings have made it worse by spreading it in their various activities.
Documented Symptoms
There are various documented symptoms and signs of COVID-19 disease that appears in two to fourteen days after a person is exposed to the virus (Napoli and Matteo 1138). During this period, when one has been revealed, and the signs are yet to show, it is known as the incubation period where the virus develops through mutation. Some of the common signs and symptoms of this disease are cough, tiredness, and body fever. However, it is essential to note that most people infected by this disease experience mild to moderate respiratory difficulties, and they recover without requiring special treatment (Napoli and Matteo 1138). Older people and those with existing medical complications like diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and chronic respiratory disease are more likely to be adversely affected by developing a severe illness.
It is no secret that human beings are responsible for the increased spread of coronavirus. Various human activities that involve exchange has led to the massive spread of this disease (Napoli and Matteo 1138). Humankind has made it worse by not following the guidelines provided by the various responsible bodies like the Centre for Disease Control. For example, people are not observing the 1.5 metre distance to avoid close contact. People have also resumed traveling, leading to the massive spread of this disease (Napoli and Matteo 1138). Gathering restrictions that were provided have also become a thing of the past as it has been observed in various countries as politicians gather people in huge rallies. These are the avenues for the spread of coronavirus. Further, it has been realized that very few people are wearing masks, which was one of the guidelines provided to ensure that people don’t spread the virus when the talk or sneeze (Napoli and Matteo 1138).
Conclusion
In conclusion, humankind needs to ensure that they follow the guidelines to prevent the spread of coronavirus. This is the only best way to slow down the transmission and its spread. Human beings should protect themselves and others from infection by washing their hands always, wearing masks, observing quarantine, avoiding touching their faces, and avoiding gatherings. I cannot stress enough that it is only by following these guidelines that we can overcome this disease.
