Introduction
The National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties has nine core competencies. These competencies are taught to all nurse students to help apply them in real-life practice. The competencies apply to all nurses regardless of specialty or the population of focus. There are different ways in which nurses meet several core competencies.
Nursing training is science-based. Nurses' practice emphasizes science's ability to help diagnose and treat most diseases affecting animals and human beings specifically (Bender et al., 2019). Biology and chemistry are the foundation subjects in nursing training (Heinen et al., 2019).
Competencies
The program helped me to be confident in my ability and others. It helps trained nurses become an authority in their field and believe in others (Heinen et al., 2019). Nurses get training on building interpersonal relationships essential in leadership (Bender et al., 2019).
The training program emphasizes on quality of care for patients. It aims to have qualified nurses who understand their training scope and can apply learned information to practice competently (Heinen et al., 2019). The program emphasizes practical training for nurses to develop these skills.
Practice Inquiry
How to conduct an inquiry is emphasized in the nursing training program. The program develops research skills for nurses to conduct examinations professionally (Heinen et al., 2019). The importance of nursing inquiry in decision making gets emphasized in the training program.
Nurse training program promotes the use of technology. The program ensures that trainee nurses can use computers competently (Heinen et al., 2019). Nurses' training itself is computer-based, which encourages nurses to learn more about technology in nursing for application (Bender et al., 2019).
Nursing policies are critical in practice. The training program has helped me understand the nursing policy and memorize the procedures (Hicks et al., 2018). All nurses abide by the existing nursing policy.
Health Delivery System
The program trains nurses to identify and solve patient needs. The program promotes the importance of these aspects and the nurses' critical role in health delivery. Nurses are part of a bigger healthcare system, and the training program helps promote that understanding (Heinen et al., 2019).
Nursing ethics promotes professionalism. The training program emphasizes the importance of ethics in practice and how nurses should apply them (Heinen et al., 2019). The presentation of Different ethical situations that a nurse might face in the program promotes the ethical practice.
Conclusion
The training program empowered me with skills to take the vitals and make independent decisions. It helps to promote the independence of practice (Heinen et al., 2019). Taking individual responsibility for patients promotes independent practice as encouraged in the training program.
As a nurse practitioner, I plan to engage in social change. I plan to conduct campaigns through medical outreaches and sit-ins to inform the public about the risks of teenage pregnancy. For example, adolescent pregnancies put mothers' lives at risk since their bodies are not well-formed to handle pregnancy, and psychologically the teenagers are unprepared to handle pregnancy (Hicks et al., 2018).
