Introduction
Hypertension is a high-risk disease that can cause severe effects on the patient hence the need to control it. JS medication should include the use of 2 hypertensive drugs due to the high blood pressure indicated at 168/98 mmHg with a combination of Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors, Angiotensin receptor blockers, or the calcium channel blockers. In stabilization of blood pressure, the antihypertensive medication should be initiated early enough for drug therapy to fully be effective (Engel-Nitz et al., 2010). The ACEI, ARBs work efficiently in HP patients as they cause the relaxation of the blood vessels as well as decrease the blood volume hence lowering the blood pressure and decrease oxygen demand in the heart. The drugs initiated do not aim at treatment hypertension but focus on maintaining the blood pressure to normal limits to minimize the effects of high blood pressure on the patient.
Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes
JS should undertake a lifestyle change to control blood pressure levels. Month the lifestyle changes to be instituted includes weight control, ceasing the smoking behavior, initiating relaxation therapies, minimization of dietary fats, reduction of salt in the diet, and increased engagements in the physical activities. A combination of lifestyle changes and drug therapy aims at the regulation and stabilization of the blood pressure. Drug therapy is continually varied while the lifestyle changes are maintained; hence they are essential in maintaining blood pressure.
Diagnostic Tests to Establish a Baseline Before Starting an Antihypertensive
The blood pressure diagnostics baselines should be established before initiating antihypertensive medication. A comprehensive BP is based on multiple measurements conducted on different periods to establish a baseline (Gabb et al. 2016). The pulse rate of the heart is dependent on the blood flow and the blood pressure through the heart. However, its baseline ought to be determined to assess the abilities of the heart's muscles to pump blood into the lungs. The diagnostics test and the subsequent baseline affirm the blood pressure conditions and the stage of the disease; hence medication can be instituted.
