There is the need for my college to start focusing on the success of students who return to the college at an older age through leveraging of new solutions that can be achieved through the use of technology. The new technology adopted will assist in better aligning the former students with their life difficulties, pace, and several unique characteristics. The college has the capacity to help the older students through creating a flexible, increasingly personalized and a rich learning experience at a large scale. Since the college education constitutes an essential aspect of an inclusive society, there is the need for the college to concentrate on the older students' success as well as their learning outcomes. Therefore, the college needs to adopt adaptive and personalized technology in the process of creating an environment that is characterized by specific needs of the older students. One important technology that will help the college to attain this is the microteaching technology. The following paper will provide a discussion of an analysis of microteaching technology and its importance in ensuring that the students coming to college at older ages are successful in their education.
Microteaching technology is made up by microcontent which is usually delivered through the electronic devices which include app, mobile device, and the system of learning management, Laptop or a computer. The principal goal of incorporating microteaching technology into the college education is to chunk the learning process into smaller content bits which will not result in overwhelming the learner. Microteaching encourages typically reasoning among students in a given topic (Ghafoor 226). Several benefits that are associated with the implementation of microteaching technology in the learning of older students at college which include reduction of the cognitive load for the more former students in college and offering versatile contents items which may be practiced and reviewed by older students in the college. Microteaching technology has the potential of providing digital content that is more engaging instead of the tedious lectures that are at times disengaging to the older students.
An example of microcontent is micro podcasts. Micro podcasts help the older students in college to have access to shorter podcasts that enable them to preview content, learn, establishing background knowledge as well as reviewing of material. The micro podcast will significantly help the older students in the building of necessary background education. Another example of microcontent includes micro lecture videos. These videos will assist the older students in reviewing often many times as required and they will be able to skip the content that they have already mastered. Another example of microcontent that is used in the microteaching technology is the content in digital flashcards. This learning fosters typically the retrieval practice in which the learners B will have the opportunity of interacting with the content provided in the class more often. The older students will also have the chance of establishing their digital resources set used for review purposes through the use of quizlet.
Students returning to college at an older age can significantly benefit from the implementation of microteaching technology that provides both flexible and versatile content. The content used for microlearning technology may be created easily through the use of few tools that are user-friendly such as tools for video creation, tools for podcast creation, and the creation tools for the mobile-based quiz. Many of the tools used frequently require a reduced cost. The students returning to college at old age may opt out or opt in of viewing some of these resources used in microteaching. This kind of learning that is flexible enables typically the older learners in understanding that their time is valuable and the content in their studies is available which can be accessed at any time they require for them to become successful in their course. Microlearning technology may be integrated with the system of teach management whereby it can be used as the only tool or linked to other digital outreach tools such as email for connecting the students returning to college at old ages. The simple nudging tools through the email may help in guiding the students towards the available microcontent which will assist them in becoming more successful as they can master their course content. The microteaching technology may also work well for the mobile devices which promote quick access to the digital content. The college will have the role of encouraging the students who return to college at old age to let them understand more about the mobile apps which they can use to help them in connecting to a learning system that the college is using.
Conclusion
For the college to get started with integrating of the microteaching technology, it needs to first of all focus on creating of the engaging content that is relevant for the students who return to the college at old ages. The college must encourage various faculties to script, shape and design their microcontent pertinent to be integrated within their respective courses.
