Introduction

The article "PRICKLE1 Contributes to Cancer Cell Dissemination through its interaction with mTORC2" is a research work about the effects of PRICKLE1 in the development of cancer cell. The article was written by several scientists including, Avails Daulat, Stephane Audeber, and Pascal Finetti among others. The research was written in response to the belief that the components of the evolutionarily conserved developmental planer cells cell polarity ( PCP) largely contributes to cancer cell dissemination. Even though the mechanism by which PCP molecules lead to the spread of cancer cells throughout the body remain largely unknown. According to the research, PRICKLE1, however, encodes a PCP protein to the promigratory threonine kinase MINK 1. The researchers discovered that RICTOR, one of the members of the mTORC2 complex, which is a PRICKLE1-binding partner and indicate that the presence of the PRICKLE1-MINK1-RICK complex is needed to activate AKT, a regulation for cancer cell migration and focal adhesions. As a result, the impairment of the interaction between PRICKLE1 and RICTOR leads to high impairment of breast cancer cell dissemination in xenograft assays (Daulet et al., 2016). The article, therefore, concluded that regulation of PRICKLE1 in breast cancers, an element largely characterized by high metastatic potential, is mostly associated with low metastasis-free survival. This paper criticized this research by indicating some to the strengths and weakness of the article.

One of the main weaknesses of the paper is that the target audiences are those well-established scientists who are familiar with advanced terminologies in the field of medicine. The terms used are complicated and cannot be understood by amateurs and ordinary people outside the field science. The assumption made by authors of the article in language selection that the discovery made is only useful among the educated elite in the field of medicine.

The second weakness of the paper can be seen in the procedures used in the experiment. Unlike in most of the experiment procedures where the procedures are laid down step by step of in numerical points, in order from the first step to the last step. The experimental procedure in the article is written in a prose form lacking the units of measures, such as quantity of various chemicals used. The shallowness of the experimental procedures, therefore, makes it difficult to do the procedure to confirm the results of the research in the lap.

Lastly, there is lack of quantitative analysis of the number of research done. The assumption that can be made by reading the article is that the experiment was done only once with the results to that one experiment recorded as conclusive results. As a result of this weakness, the research must be done by different scientists to validate discovery of the research. Also, the research lacks control experiment which can be used to compare the results of the experiment with the presence of some conditions and when the same conditions are not available.

Conclusion

In conclusion, it is clear that some important rules and regulations concerning research are missing in the article. Lack of lack of such important features of research which makes the paper acceptable is missing, and therefore the article cannot be used for any further research. If those conditions were met, the paper does not qualify for publications in the scientific journals. It is, therefore, important that the authors of the research address the weakness of their work especially in the procedures of the experiment used, creating a statistical analysis of the results and developing a control experiment.
