It is no doubt that no one would want to be left behind by the advanced technology in the contemporary society. The notion that technology has reached its climax is a misplaced argument because every dawn new inventions are realized in our daily experience. This paper intends to highlight the basis behind a digital portfolio and how well an individual can create an outstanding portfolio whether for a job searching purposes or rather for academic reasons.
According to Dysthe and Engelsen (2011), digital portfolio construction can be disappointing at times. Apparently, many people experience challenges when trying to build a portfolio and end up receiving little traffic. While such as scenario has happened to various people with an ambition of creating an attractive portfolio, there are few things that one can do to avoid these disappointments as clearly articulated by Dysthe and Engelsen.
Creating a good portfolio that can be hosted on different platform take a lot of courage. For instance, one can decide to link his or her portfolio to sites such as LinkedIn and company job websites. However, to establish a good portfolio, various practices should be kept in mind. First, samples chosen should be outstanding. These samples should represent main assets, corporate practice, and practical capability (Buzzetto-More & Alade, 2016). The samples selected has to be fresh, not older than five years. Additionally, the samples have to remain relevant as viewed by different people. Moreover, the category that one creates should be specific and to the point. In that sense, one has to avoid any kind of ambiguity and, therefore, allowing the viewers to have a clear glimpse of the type of person you are. In case one is an IT expert, then creating a portfolio for such individual has to be strictly clear on the details presented.
Primarily, portfolios come in different categories such as industry-specific, medium specialty, and chronological (Wiedmer, 2012). another virtue that one has to showcase is the level of creativity and style. However, one should ensure creativity is not exaggerated. harmonizing personal profile design to one's label is important as it will give a true impression of personal being. At this point, one should be in a position of handling a given selection putting customer's venture in mind. To ensure that viewers have an easy time going through a profile, consider putting your portfolio into test. Use all browsers to ensure they all open the page and use high-quality photos (Buzzetto-More & Alade, 2016). Lastly, include detailed captions information. Essentially, this details should include the clients that one has worked with in the past, goals and challenges experienced, responsibilities in regard to the project, and positive results attained (Wiedmer, 2012).
Conclusion
In the nutshell, it is evident that an outstanding portfolio can stand the test of times especially in the competitive world we are in. Noteworthy, one can be in a position to communicate with employers especially when a good portfolio is in place and getting an employment would no longer be a problem.
