Introduction
Terrorism is referred to as the use of threat and violence to coarse or intimidates innocent people. There are two forms of terrorism: domestic terrorism which is usually carried out by groups or individuals in their own country and international terrorism which is perpetrated by foreign groups or individuals. Arson is the crime which involves setting fire maliciously and intentionally on properties like vehicles and buildings. Bombing refers to attacking dropping bombs to defeat the enemy and especially by the terrorist groups ( Beckman,2016). Terrorism, arson, and bombing are major threat issues facing the world today, substantial lives have been lost and property worth millions destroyed as a result of these issues. Discussed below are the current issues associated with these problems and the possible solutions which can be used to fix these issues.
Current Issues
Terrorism
One of the significant threats facing the world today is the issue of terrorism and their various explanations as to what cause terrorist attacks. Some of the factors which have contributed to the evolution of terrorism include; the homegrown violent extremist, use of social media and the internet. Terrorists can carry their attacks in various ways such as through shooting, bombing, and arsons.
Shooting
Some of the current issues in terrorism are; in 15th March 2019, a terrorist attack took place in Newzealand at two mosques at the Christchurch leading were around forty-nine people were killed, and forty others were left with severe injuries. The attack occurred on a Friday where the victims had attended prayers at the Christchurch, and this is termed as the worst shooting in Newzealand history. Reports say that the attackers used machine guns to fire into the people and that some IEDs(Improvised explosive devices) were identified in a car at the crime scene after the attack (Al Jazeera & News agencies, 2019).
Arson
This is another tactic which can be used by terrorist groups to make an attack where they maliciously and intentionally set fire on properties. A current arson attack happened in 5th February 2019 in Paris where at least ten lives were claimed in the fire. It is suspected that the arson was perpetrated by a 40-year-old woman resident who was drunk and is reported to suffer from psychiatric problems( Adamson,.& Hinnant,2019).
Bombing
Terrorist groups and individuals also use the bombing tactic to attack by dropping the bombs on the targeted area. An example is the Kashmir attack in India which occurred in 15th February 2019 and left at least thirty-seven individuals dead. The attack happened on a Thursday afternoon after a bomb exploded in a convoy of the paramilitary personnel in India( Ahmed, & Gupta, 2019).
Suggestions on How to Fix the Issue
It is possible to fix the terrorist issue facing the world today; some of the significant ideas which be incorporated to help curb it include: The fundamental human problems like education, poverty and unemployment should be addressed. This is because most of the individuals join terrorism as a result of anger and frustration; they feel insignificant and meaningless since their problems are not being fixed. Some join terrorism to earn money to support themselves and their families while others do so to express their needs to be heard( Beckman,2016).
A national counterterrorism strategy should be created: for instance, improving border controls, stopping the foreign terrorist fighters, use of air passage data such as travel dates and passengers names to detect and prevent any serious crimes and terrorist offenses. Another idea which can be used to counter terrorism is the tackling of the individuals who help finance terrorism, and this can be done by cutting their sources of revenue.
Access to dangerous weapons should also be reduced to prevent these weapons from falling into the hands of the wrong people, and this can be enhanced through the use of proper monitoring systems. Radicalization also should be prevented since most of the terrorist attacks are usually carried out by the homegrown terrorist who has been convinced into joining terrorist groups ( Beckman,2016).
