Introduction

As the task force involved in researching about the police misconduct, the main areas that I will major on are the behaviors that are deemed to be misconducts, the extent of the fault and finally the question of the targeted minorities for the abuse and the solutions to the harassment. The research stipulates clearly that the relationship between the police officers at Henderson police station and the minority citizens is deteriorating at an alarming rate. The minorities, in this case, have a more negative perception towards the police than the whites. It is therefore so unfortunate to find out that some police officers deviate from their law enforcement duties to getting work done employing brutality against the minorities.

The main problem that manifested itself is racial profiling among some police officers under this department. Profiling means that often, police stop motorists of certain races thinking that they are most likely to commit crimes than other citizens. This unmerited profiling is utterly against the individuals' rights. The other problem is the use of excessive force when making arrests and enforcing laws (Worden, 2015). Some officers mostly use the excessive power in regards to their reasons such as racism. The minority groups were most likely to be arrested and searched than the white counterparts. The records show that the number of injuries sustained during the arrest was more on African-Americans and Native Americans. These were the problems that the task force identified.

The task force has come up with ways to resolve these problems amicably before the department of justice steps into the matter. The solutions included setting up a disciplinary tribunal within the department to look into the actions of the police as well as monitoring their behaviors when carrying out their law enforcement duties (Holmes, 2017). The police can, therefore, be answerable to the tribunal. The other solution was to educate the police within the department on the doctrine of equity in regards to the human rights. The other answer that the task force came up with is to present the police officers found guilty in the martial courts so that they can be accountable for their actions within their lines of duty.

Resources Needed

Resources needed in executing the solutions are experts from the department of human rights who will adequately enlighten the police in the department on human rights and the importance of respecting them. A panel of officers would also be needed to set up the disciplinary tribunal within the station. Adequate money to facilitate the remedies will also be required.

Curricula Created and Topics

The curriculum needed to be set up are educative curricula and disciplinary curricula to effectively curb the problem. The probable topics would be on human rights and the importance of the doctrine of equity.

Timeframe for Efforts

This whole plan will take about six months to be implemented fully considering the enormous workload due to the intensity of the situation.
