Dearest Cate,
I am writing this letter to apologize for what I did. I am truly sorry for ruining your birthday party last weekend. My actions were totally disrespectful, uncalled for, and embarrassing. Moreover, the words I uttered towards you were harsh and hurtful. Your birthday party was meant to be a joyous and memorable event, but I turned it into a chaotic and dramatic episode. I embarrassed you in the presence of your family and all the invited guests. I robbed you of the joy you should have had on that important day.
Your sister Natasha later told me how distraught you were after the episode. I should not have had too much to drink and let the alcohol control me. I may not entirely know how you felt, but I acknowledge that what I did was inappropriate, especially to a friend like you. I hope that you would understand that I hadn't planned for it to happen. I remember how excited both of us had been when organizing the party and we both looked forward to a fun-filled evening. My irresponsible behavior, however, ruined that possibility.
I feel dejected for having hurt you in this manner, while you have always been so kind to me. Your friendship has been one of the best things in my life and I appreciate the support you have offered me on countless occasions. For instance, I clearly remember how you defended me during my first day in Junior High after some girls bullied me. You later offered me your company and that became the beginning of our friendship. You have been like the sister I never had. My inappropriate behavior was like an insult to the valuable friendship that we have had and I really regret it.
I honestly do not have the best explanation to justify my actions because I made a serious mistake. I had never taken alcohol before and trying it out on your birthday was a foolish thing to do. I, therefore, take full responsibility for my actions. I will not feel at peace if I do not pay for the damage that I caused. Kindly allow me to replace the glasses that I broke. Also with your permission, I will offer my apology to your family in person.
I cannot reverse what happened or even take back the harsh words I uttered, but I am truly hoping that you will forgive me. I honestly miss having you around for I feel lonely without your company. My days seem long and boring, as I have no one to share the moments with. I know it might be hard, but I wish that it would once again be okay between us. I hope that we can rekindle the warmth of our friendship. I also hope to earn your trust and revive the joy that our friendship offered.
I know that the word 'sorry' cannot be enough to erase my mistakes because you deserve the best. Your birthday this year is gone but I promise that your next birthday will be one of a kind. I will work tirelessly to ensure that you celebrate it to the fullest and make great memories from it. I really hope that you will give me the chance to make it up to you.
Yours sincerely,
Kelsey.
