As we all know, abuse of human rights and corruption denies individuals equal opportunities and rights. It is distressing to see individuals participating in acts of corruption and abuse of human rights. I believe that persons should get judged according to their character rather than their racial or cultural backgrounds. Abuse of human rights results in injustice and unequal opportunities, and that's why we should not participate in such activities because it is a violation of human rights. I am against, and I do not support corruptive activities and abuse of human rights. In this position paper, I will discuss why I am against, and I do not support corruptive activities and abuse of human rights by government agencies.

To find amicable solutions to corruption, we should understand what causes government agencies to participate in corruption. The economic and political environment greatly influences corruption amongst government agencies. A recent study has revealed that government agencies from countries with a lot of restrictions are more likely to participate in corruption than countries with few restrictions. The study also revealed that corruption cases are more in developing nations. Individuals in countries that have strict regulations prefer to engage in bribery for them to avoid restrictions. According to a recent study by Nelson and Goel, monetary policy greatly influences corruption (Treisman 2000). According to the study, there are more cases of corruption in the States that use monetary policy. Therefore government agencies from States with more black markets and informal economies are most likely to participate in corruption.

Low salaries also cause corruption, especially among employees working in government agencies. Underpaid government officials have little to spend and save; therefore, they engage in corruption to sustain themselves. The majority of developing countries do not have enough tax revenue; hence there is little money to pay the local officials. Underpaid officials in government agencies will use all the means available to stabilize their financial position, and that's they get involved in corruption. Job dissatisfaction is also a major cause of corruption amongst government agencies. Job satisfaction improves the quality and quantity of work; therefore, satisfied employees are not likely to participate in corruption since they conform to the working conditions. According to a study carried by Tang and Sardzoska, dissatisfied employees are more likely to participate in corruptive activities than satisfied employees.

Lack of deficient laws and professional ethics that regulate corruption is another major cause of corruption by government agencies. Most government agencies get involved in corruption because there are no proper outlined deficient laws and professional ethics. Corruption has emerged and spread amongst government agencies because of poor sanctioning and prosecution of corruption cases. Ineffective sanctioning increases the likelihood of persons participating in corruptive activities and those that already take part in it to continue. Ineffective sanctioning and prosecution on matters related to corruption encourages individuals to take part in corruptive activities, and that's why most officials in government agencies end up getting involved in corruption (Rose-Ackerman 2008). Low or lack of press freedom is another major cause of corruption amongst government agencies. It is vital to note that the press plays a vital role in contemporary society because it keeps the public updated. Therefore lack of press freedom increases corruption in government agencies because of manipulated information and reports.

Greed for power and money is another major of corruption in government agencies. The majority of persons that work in government agencies use their positions and power to fulfill their selfish interests rather than serve the public. Greed for power amongst employees working in government agencies, especially during promotion, makes individuals engage in corruption. Persons working in top positions in government use their influence to benefit their friends and relatives, which increases corruption because there is no transparency (Ugur & Dasgupta 2011). Poor working culture is another major cause of corruption in government agencies. Poor leadership in government agencies has led to an increase in corruption cases because those in power are supporting the activity rather than condemning the activity. It is distressing to have cultural environments that support corruption rather than having a culture that condemns corruptive activities.

It is unreasonable for government agencies to participate in corruption because it has dire consequences. Corruption reduces the level of transparency and openness in government agencies. Lack of openness and transparency makes members of the public lose faith in government agencies, and it erodes the confidence and trust the members of the public have on such agencies. Truly speaking, it hurts for officials in government agencies to get involved in corruption rather than serving the best interests of public members. Corruption by government agencies has also had a great impact on employment. Corruption in government agencies reduces the quality and quantity of work. Because of corruption, the persons who get employment opportunities in government are not fully qualified and suitable for the various positions.

Some government agencies play a critical role in contemporary society; thus, it is vital to have the most qualified and suitable persons working under such agencies. Government agencies that deal with matters associated with health care and security need qualified and suitable professionals. Corruption in government agencies puts members of the public at risk because they do not get quality services, resulting in chaos. Corruption by government agencies, especially in developing countries, has resulted in a lack of development. Corruption results in manipulation and wastage of public resources, which leads to a lack of development. The funds and resources meant for development projects such as hospitals, roads, and other essential infrastructure ends up in the pockets of officials working in government agencies instead of the planned projects.

Corruption by government agencies does not only affect the locals, but it also has a negative impact internationally. Corruption destroys the reputation of a nation. Thus when government agencies get involved in corruptive activities, they discourage foreign investors, and as a result, there is little or no foreign trade and investment (Ugur & Dasgupta 2011). Investment plays a very crucial role in the development of the economy. Investment results in the development and creation of employment opportunities; thus, individuals have enough cash to save and consume, which triggers the economy to thrive. Investors and business people will invest in corruption-free areas for the safety of their properties. Therefore, government agencies' corruption reduces the trustworthiness and transparency of a State, which in turn discourages foreign trade and investment. Corruption by government agencies also results in an unequal distribution of wealth and reduced innovation.

To find an amicable solution to corruption by government agencies, We should create awareness to the public about the effects of corruption. The public needs to know the effects of corruption, which will make them seize from the practice. Creating awareness on corruption will help to create a corruption-free environment. Creating awareness will also help keep the citizens engaged on matters related to corruption at global, local, international, and national levels. Proper sanctioning and prosecution is another way to fight corruption by government agencies. Nobody is above the law; thus, proper sanctioning and prosecution will discourage officials in government agencies from participating in corruptive activities. Policymakers must come up with effective laws to punish those involved in corruption.

It is unethical and illegal for anybody to take part in corruption. Corruption denies individuals equal opportunities. Proper leadership is also helpful in the fight against corruption by government agencies. We should have leaders who are motivated to serve the interests of the public rather than those who are motivated by greed for money and power (Carr 2007). We should strive to have a culture whereby the officials working in government agencies are at the forefront condemning corruptive activities rather than supporting them. It is also essential to have more economical and press freedom. Lack of press freedom has led to an increase in government agencies' corruption since the public gets misleading and manipulated information. Economic and press freedom will help fight corruption because there will be no more monopolies and fear of the press to expose those involved in corruptive activities.

It is vital, first of all, to acknowledge that we are all humans. That said, every one of us needs treatment in the most humane way possible. But in most cases, some people are treated the way they are not supposed to, which makes it unfair and a form of abuse in our current society. Abuse involves violations. Human rights include the fundamental rights of persons. Therefore human rights abuse is the violating of the fundamental rights of the individual persons. The topic of violation of people's rights is an old tale under the sun but has been in existence since time immemorial. During the past centuries, it got practiced, and even in the current 21st century. It has been a kind of hereditary thing. It is in the midst of us, and some of us have made it part and parcel of our lives. Human rights abuses can be in different dimensions. We can have human rights abuse in the economic aspect, social dimension, and cultural size. These violations of human rights take place when the state or government fails to safeguard these rights. It fails in that they are not enjoyed or even respected by the defiant population. Surprisingly, the state agencies are the ones at the center stage of violating these fundamental rights (Chan 2017). The main reason is a lot of corruption inside the agencies. Some of the examples of these violated human rights in all the dimensions involve;

Lack of a minimum wage rate to sustain the livelihoods of individuals. Government agencies have failed to make sure there is a minimum wage for their workers. Due to this, those working in the private sector are underpaid compared to the amount of workload they carry out. In turn, this has led to some people living in awful situations and, to some extent, not even being able to meet their basic needs. Lack of adequate resources to curb food starvation in areas and communities that face food shortages. Governments have not been able to reach all areas infested with food starvation. It's not because they are not aware, but due to a lack of enough distribution of required resources to such areas or communities. Some of these resources are used for private motives rather than for the good of ordinary people.

Withhold of the necessary information on sexual and reproductive health. Information on vital issues like sexual and reproductive health withheld within the government agencies. It is the right of every individual to have such data for their well-being. But instead, public awareness campaigns are not carried out to sensitize the public about the same.
