The article explores the contributions animal testing has made in scientific and medical discoveries. These advances include the discovery of antibiotics, modern anesthesia, and vaccines for diseases. Animals have led to the growth of new surgical methods and medical equipment's. It is relevant to my topic since it champions the rights of Animals who have advocated for the use of alternatives to animal experimentation. First, it is not ethical to violate animals' rights. According to Tom Regan, a professor in philosophy at NCSU, argues that "Animals have a basic ethical right to respectful treatment." The second reason, animals are exposed to physical pain, a lot of anguish, and the demise of animals elicits the reason for researchers to seek for alternatives in their discoveries. From the source, the focus will be on advocating for scientists to use alternative to animal testing to reduce the pain and distress animals experience as subjects.

The article explains the contentious ethical debate existing in the use of animals in experimentation by scientists. One of the reasons why animal testing should be banned is due to unethical reasons. Use of animal testing brings pain and suffering. According to research conducted by the US Department of Agriculture, about 60% of animals were used in different experiments and most of died as a result of pain. The researcher should seek alternatives in their discoveries like replacement-use of non-animal techniques to achieve a precise goal. Refinement-technique that is used to reduce potential pain, distress, and suffering on animals. Additionally, an American Association dealing with the Veterinary field describes animal pain as a "hostile sensual and responsive experience emanating from a specific part of the body and connected with probable tissue damage." In summary, animal testing is renowned as animal abuse and therefore, there is a need for responsible agencies such as the Animal Welfare Act to stop the acts or rather regulate. Experiments on animals are not supposed to harm them, for instance, there are tests that Ivan Pavlov performed on animals to determine their behavior and they did not harm do any harm.
