The outreach to every state has been a challenge due to financial limitations that is prevalent hence not every state is well covered. The need to establish approaches to having a hybrid program that brings together all the stakeholders is wanting. The rates of deaths as a result of suicide has been at an average of close to 50,000 deaths of Americans. The number is incredibly high and represent the escalated rates. The number of attempts have significantly been at a significant high. Costing the country massive financial loss, the suicide causes up to 70 billion dollars of yearly loss. The rates of suicide have appeared to continually rise due to the many factors and issues at play across the United States. The rates of suicide have been an average pf 13 suicide occasions per 100, 000 people. It is unfortunate that the many suicide happenings fail to be noted before they actually occur. The fact that men are more susceptible to committing suicide than women are reflect the dire need to ensure that the ratesare curbed and kept low. The statistical reflection of thesuicide rates reflect the manner that the problem has become a huge obstacle in the realization of the Americandream and the vison of a better life and growth of the economy with every citizen playing an importantrole.
The state of Pennsylvania has had significantly high rates. The state is at a rank of 32 on the order of the suicide chart among the United States. It does not mean that the country has significantly lower rates than other states but the rates of suicide has been consistently rising in Philadelphia and has brought about a necessity to curb and prevent the happenings. Among the age group of 25-34 suicide has become the 2nd leading cause of death. It is appalling that the people affected by suicide in an annual trend per year is more than two times of the rates of homicide. The least affected part of the population are the old people whereby the age group of 65 and beyond have suicide as 17th in the list of causesof death. Statistics obtained from the state of Pennsylvania it is apparent there needs to be a suicide prevention program that covers the variousaspects of mental health to psychological management. The rates of suicide among the youth is appalling and is exceptionally high so as to prompt a critical concern to rectify the malady.
The American foundation for suicide prevention if they have to ensure they prevent thesuicide rates and occurrences, they have to have a massive strategic outlay that covers the population ranges and age groups differently. The financial loss that occurs to the community and society when an individual is lost to suicide death, is extremely colossal with a tune of up to 1.8 billion dollars lost in terms of life investment and work loss. The fact that individuals who have worked hard to build their lives onlyto lose it cannot be let to continue and prevail. It is time that the American Foundation for Suicide prevention is given a hand to help them in the activities to help reduce the suicide happenings through the various strategic approaches.
Program
As a way of dealing with suicide prevention, a logic model that deals with the primary factors of stress and depression among the youth who have shown to be culpable to the suicide is necessary. Due to the general approach to alleviate the problem, involving the considerably expanse sets of age groups is vital. A model that is based on integrated suicide prevention measures in organizations and institutions is ideally a sustainable approach that can unify the efforts and input of the various stakeholders. The model shall be defined as a hybrid strategy that seeks to identify stress factors andmental health issues among the various age groups but with a specific target approach to suicide prevention among youths of the age group of between 24 and 35 years having demonstrated high rates of suicide deaths. The components of the model incorporates various standards and approaches to integration of screening in institutions and psychotherapy assistance involving counselling to the persons showing wanting mental health. The model shall seek to ensure that medical institutions play a huge role in ensuring that the persons assessed and studied for any symptoms and signs that might underscore the presence of stress factors are given necessary assistance. The parameters of the model shall include the integration of the awareness measures at the work stations of institutions for the welfare of employees and person who assess the institutions. Through cooperation with organizations and the institutes, screening services shall be offered and consequently recommendation to further medical assistance shall be made. Since the program is targeted towards impacting the youths falling in the specified age group and parameters of the suicide prevention model, they shall be reached through social media and other forms of campaign, to dissipate awareness and information to get people be screened and helped to solve psychological and mental issues.
The model would lead to some instant outcomes such as the coordination between institutions to refocus on the issue of mental in the community as well as among the employees. The integrated suicide prevention model would lead to an invigorated drive to ensure that people gain an increased understanding of the mental health issue. It appear that the knowledge on the domain of mental health and a purview on psychological stability has long been disintegrated and rarely been indulged by players and managers in various sectors. In the long run the screening would helpidentify the person with poor mental health and help them in regaining mental stability and control over their lives. The ratesof suicide committals would drastically reduce and the drive would see and elimination of the issue. The model is inspired by the knowledge that rarely the players in institutions have disregard for the mental health of the many employees and workers who may at times feel the pressure of life due to the work balance that heaps stress and strain. Evidence has it that many pf the people that commit suicide in the age bracket of between 24 and 35 years are prospective youth who are met by the life crisis of having to balance work, life and personal development. The norm of integrated suicide prevention brings into play the assistance to organizations by covering human resource aspects of screening and therapy. In the long run, the system becomes a part of organizational welfare and is able to be taken up by organizations, institutions and the governmental bodies.
Implementation Plan
The implementation plan of the model would involve several steps and detailed approaches. The first step involves the establishment of integrated departments to that would deal with the screening of mental health in the institutions in the city of Philadelphia. The departments would include volunteeringmedical and health professionals and their paid staff to ensure the efficient flow of the process. Though the cooperation with institutions such as the hospitals, the association will deploy staff in-house and even at various spots in the city. The institutional screening at the various institutions would screen individualsrecommended and those that assent willingly to the process. The use of various technologies to assess the brain activity and the use of academic and scholarly techniques of therapywould help to decipher the results of the patients. Once screened the patients would be then helped depending on the results. The patients and persons assessed that demonstrate culpability to mental weakness and instability would be recommended to psychotherapeutic treatment and counselling to the major health centers. The individuals that demonstrate mental health, will be given health tips to stay on course with a proper mental state. With the deployment of pamphlets that give detail to the norm, the people assessed and screened will be armed with knowledge and knowing of the state of mental health that they may be able to help other persons that they know of and recommend them to go through screening. It is feasible that the process would require financial outlay with a tune of up to 10 thousand dollars. The financial outlay shall be derived from the grant. With a proper cooperation between the association and the stakeholders, the integrated screening shall be housed by the institutions in their physical locations whereby the requirements such as an office and sustainable operating space shall be provided. In the cases whereby the institutions have no space for extra function ability of an office, improvisation of operating space shall be done either throughthe setting up of a tent or through acquirement of an infrastructural space at any other space but with the collaboration of the association and the various institutions to offset the things such as rent of space and operating costs.
