Introduction

The 12-week introductory psychology course aims at promoting significant concepts in psychology. The course will be based in class while focusing on psychology majors to assist the students in developing the necessary knowledge. Classroom Management Rules and Expectations Regarding Student Participation

Students in this course are expected to read the course materials provided while checking the regular announcements on the Blackboard. The students are also expected to attend classes and pay attention by putting away the mobile phones. The roll will be taken for each category, and if a student miss to participate in the course, he or she will be forced to register for the next academic year. However, frequent absenteeism will result in missing scores, and the instructor will be forced to delete you from the course register. Students must attend to the sitting cats or take makeup in case of missing marks. Therefore, students have to complete three examinations and six assignments. On the other hand, the student has to listen to the instructor as well as other students, especially during presentations, put hands up if one wants to answer the question, respect each other, respect other people's property and take care of the equipment of the school. The instructor expects the students to finish work on time, follow instructions, be on time, keep the class tidy and attend to all exams, and attempt all assignments.

Course Description

The course, introductory psychology, aims at providing the students with an understanding of the various areas in the field of psychology, including psychological research, memory as well as learning, thinking, and intelligence, perception, and states of consciousness. By the end of the course, the learners should be familiar with essential concepts as well as theories in the field of psychology while applying these areas in life. Course Introduction

The course is lecture-based with six assignments and three exams. Students are encouraged to complete the assigned textbook readings before the lecture. The weekly duties will be assigned to help gauge the students' understanding of the class content. Therefore, students have to make efforts to keep the schedule as presented in the syllabus. Students are therefore responsible for any information presented on the Blackboard, including the changes in schedule and exam days. Students are advised to attempt taking the course by showing up for the reviews and trying the scheduled assignments. On completing the course, the students should be able to communicate the primary origin of psychology, understand the primary research process as well as the nature of psychology. The course contains three exams with multiple-choice questions. Each review is worth 100 points, and they are not cumulative. Exams with low scores will not be eliminated. About 80% of the items in the exam will be drawn from materials covered in the lecture and the textbook. 10% will be drawn on the materials included in the lecture and 10% from the lectures. The final exam (Exam 3) will be on the 12th week accompanied by the presentation, which will carry 5points. All the exams will be administered ordinary on the date indicated in the syllabus schedule. If a stunted misses any of the three exams, the instructor does not allow makeup, and thus, the students record 0 points for that exam. However, if a student misses an exam with a valid reason, the students have the responsibility of inquiring about a makeup exam. In general, the makeup exams are permitted when the exam has been missed but with documented reasons beyond the student's control. If a student knows in advance that they will be absent on the day of the exam as scheduled, he or she has to contact the instructor as soon as possible to avoid any conflict.

Assignments must be written and submitted at the specified time. Requests for the adjustment to the schedule should be made before the deadline. Failure to make an application will result in a mark of zero unless illness or emergency can be proven with appropriate documentation. The passing grade for the course is 50% and the passing weighted average for promotion through each semester of a program is 60%. The assignments carry 10%, with each exam carrying 30%. The three exams, each covering a different portion of the course material, are non-cumulative. The exams aim at assessing the students' understudying of the elements as well as the ability to apply what has been learned in the new situations. Therefore, the three exams cover the lecture, readings as well as assignments. Attendance is essential. The assignments which carry 10% provide practice for the questions that might appear in the exams. Therefore, the assignment must be turned in during the exam for the students to receive credit.

The final grades are rounded off before being submitted. An F grade of below 50% means that the student has failed the course and has to retake the failed units.
